This could possibly solve the whole $2600 problem. Then there isn't a problem.

Rice,
You should have your CPU scheduled on an Inland Marine policy. It is covered whether it is stolen from your car, the library, etc.

I am almost certain that the year is stated on the Vin / serial number. It is the 10th digit. If it is a 3 then it is a 2003. If it is a 1 then it is a 2001.

Well, on the flip side, I have never had one minutes trouble, including a stolen 4-wheeler, with State Farm. I have two cars, a truck, a 4-wheeler, two boats and two houses insured with them, as well as my professional and personal liability. I have had claims on most of the insureds at one time or another. They have always been prompt and have given me a very fair treatment. That said, I have a local agent that I have used since 1974 and he goes to bat for me with any claim. He gives me good prices(I still check) and he know who I am when I call. I don't believe in internet or telephone insurance relationships...I want a name and a face to deal with. I also have my ducks in a row when I go to buy or to file a claim. I ask ahead what they need and give them more than they ask for. I recommend that approach strongly.

That said, I was very disappointed with State Farm and how they handled hurricane victims, and I wrote a letter to the President. I got a nice letter back from a staff member, but I still was upset with them. It didn't have anything to do with my relationship with my agent, but i let him know, too.

Sorry you are having problems with what I consider to be one of the better property insurance companies.

i feel your pain... i had a car get stolen and the items out of it were stolen as well.. never in my life have i felt so violated as i did when the insurance company got through with me.. VIOLATED!!! so now every chance i can i stick them sorry bazzards... insurance companies are a close second behind the credit card industry.. its such a rip off.

Ask anyone in the Hurricane Zone about the love they have for ANY insurance company. Even those of us who HAD flood had to go to the mat with them way too often.

It is called Tort Reform. Everyone bitched about how lawyers were suing everybody and making all this money, but it kept insurance companies in check. Now that they put some Justices in the Supreme Court that are pro-business i.e. pro-insurance companies and tort reform passed, they feel like they can get away with anything, including screwing you on the 4-wheeler. They are making a killing. Now you can't get a lawyer to take a case unless it is a big damage case because the lawyer would lose money otherwise. Just my 2-cents.
