Hell my business in North Jackson does about a $400,000.00 in sales every year out of 1100 square foot of retail space and I just lease the space. It is right around the corner from the MM's old location. But I'm here to tell you if I could get $400,000.00 for the inventory and the established business I would sell it in a heartbeat, and I don't even own the building, apparently the same boat Speed is in. If that is the case that the MM does that much in sales and the asking price is in the ballpark, then let me know because I can set you up in a business for a mere $400,000.00 right quick like. :D

Ok - enuff's enuff.

I have watched this damn thread (and other MM posts) grow for too long. NOW we are talking about someone's integrity. Just because you don't agree with someone's way of running a business and how they treat customers doesn't give you the right to call someone a liar and question their integrity. I know a lot of great people who aren't always the best businessmen. I have made a point not to defend the store since me and Duckmen got so riled up about it last time. Now that it appears the store will either close or change owners, it's really pointless.

I personally know Jeff Speed and like him. He has always treated me with respect and has been honest in all of his dealings with me. I hate to see that his business is not doing well since this is how he supports his family. I wouldn't wish bad business on my worst enemy.

Now - if this information came from "the horse's mouth" I am sure it wasn't passed on with the intention of having it posted all over the friggin' internet. Regarding other posts...if someone has a beef with another individual, then they should post specifics to back it up. Otherwise I (for one) consider it to be mud slinging BS. It's not my intent to single out any one person here.

With that being said, if the patrons of The Outfitter handle everything like this, then I choose NOT to be among your ranks.

I don't see what any of this has to do with the outfitter.

Webfoot and I just got back from there. It's a nice store with an extremely nice guy who owns it. We talked with him for over an hour.
He said his primary goal is good customer service, and I believe him.

I'll be back to visit him soon.

Softcall: Jeff has always treated me well also, think about it, he knows us.

I've been in there plenty of times when he wasn't there and had crappy customer service like everyone talks about.

I can understand you wanting to take up for him as a person when you feel he's being verbally attacked, that doesn't have anything to do with his store and certainly not the "patrons" of the outfitter.

Again not trying to start any sheit, come over and drink a beer later and we'll fight about it :D

Hey Softcall, I for one, apologize if I have said anything that seemed to be a personal attack on the man ! It was not meant that way.

The bussiness owes some people, money or merchandise! Thats all !

The bussiness has'nt been run very efficently, over the last couple of months! This is fact ! Not opinion!

Only reason I said anything at all, is that I have a friend who can get no closure at all on the matter!

I know on 2 occasions, all he got was the runaround ! Again (upon his word) Fact! Not opinion!

Dont think Mr. Speed was even there, on those 2 occasions!

Not trying to offend here!

Just facts as I see it!

RIP EM - he should take the matter up directly with Jeff. I'll also let him know what's going on out here so he will be incented to get it resolved. The state of the business is not synonymous with a man's integrity. I will not defend the MM but I will defend Jeff. From the looks of it, it appears that you would do the same for a friend of yours and I respect that.

MC - then why this sudden surge of new posters (minus Agent RB) and trash talk in the same threads? If the two aren't related, then they shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. My point is that it's easy to form a stereotype and an opinion from what's posted on the net. Words are very powerful. Be it right or wrong, the two issues are now related in my mind.

Let's take a step back....

Wildfowler had a problem with his trailor and posted specifics. His problem was resolved. Someone else had a problem with Wildrose kennels and posted their opinion. Everyone didn't agree with it but it was based on a specific event that the poster fealt needed to be published. I had a problem with the editor of wildfowler.com and said that I thought he was an idiot. MB didn't agree with me (as he is entitled to his opinion too)and I had specifics to back up my opinion. That's what this site is all about IMHO...a medium for a healthy exchange of information and the right to disagree tastefully.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion....so there is mine. Here is a bit of advice..If someone is going to talk trash on the net...you better have some meat to back it up in court. If it's just bad mouthing gossip...you better guard your words. There are many wide open interpretations of slander. You aren't anonymous...you have an I/P address. I'll leave it at that. No point in beating a dead horse.

I wish The Outfitter the best of luck and hope that they fair well with BPS opening right up the road. I would rather see the small guy do well instead of the big enterprise. They need to move though...they are soon going to be the ferry operator under the new bridge....

Softcall... I too know Jeff personally and I don't see a post by me questioning his integrity. I think Jeff is a great person and he has always treated me great when I've gone in there. I have know idea what's going on with his business nor do I want to know but I just merely stated my own opinion as a businessman myself. I've been in business 15 years in the same place and I was merely stating my opinions based off my experiences in the retail market for the past years. If Jeff has decided to sell then his past sales are going to be a factor in the asking price, and I think that's what alot of the discussion is about. I have never said one thing about the service or the way customers are treated at the MM just to set the record straight.

Thanks

"Hey balloons! Do these blow up into funny shapes?"... Well, no. Not unless round is funny.
