Gator, that is the answer I was looking for and the point I was trying to make. When a person has a life changing encounter with Jesus and He changes your life forever and you have a relationship with Him then there is no doubt that the Bible is the literal word of God - every single word is literal and true. How foolish is it when a someone (especially someone attempting to lead this country) says that you can't make decisions based on the Bible because he doesn't know what parts to take literally

Faith is MY answer....w/out it, I am lost.

word for word, i believe the Bible......WORD FOR WORD.

i've been thinking about this post since i saw it yesterday........i had basically the same answer greenheadedgrimreaper had. One of the most fundamental views of Christianity is that God created the Heavens and the Earth (the universe if you will). If I believe He can/did do that (which I do), i certainly have NO PROBLEM believing a whale (made by God) can swallow a man whole and spit him back out......or any other verse/chapter i read in the Good Book

I could get into the "how's" and the "why's" i believe, but they are very personal to me.........I'll put it this way. I KNOW God has spoken to me and acted through others twice in my life. When I was as low as a person can be, making decisions that quite frankly would have killed me. Once he saved my life as i sat at the foot of my bed shaking, not wanting to do what the world had placed in my mind as the only way out. A very good friend knocked on my door to my little apartment in hattiesburg and for whatever reason, sat w/ me.......

The next time was a couple years ago, during a wednesday night service at pine lake. I stood up during a prayer to leave and chip henderson started praying for the EXACT thing that was making me get up. I sat down and have never really "gotten back up" off that pew since.

I fail DAILY, i am a man after all. I cuss, i loose my temper, i drink, and basically act every way a man shouldn't..........but, God saved my life..............and i try daily to thank him, and ask for forgiveness.

That's as pure a power over my life as i've ever had. My wife feels that way as well........God put us together for a reason -- and through her by His will, i found the thing that bothered me so and almost made me get up.

I am a man, I sin...................

But, I have Faith and KNOW the Bible is what it is -- God's word, set forth to save me.

gator, who's proud to be ignorant

Bravo Gator. Good post bro.

You HAVE to take the bible literally. I have heard arguments that God didn't really make the world in 7 days, it was really Billions of years. IMO, that is just taking credit away from God. People argue that carbon dating proves that the world is billions of years old. I have personally seen a petrified pickle (yes, I said pickle) that was carbon dated 20,000 years old that was only 20 years old. science hasn't got it figured out and they won't.

Jesus was either the Son of God or the craziest man that ever lived. I choose to believe that he was the Son of God and that the bible is the God breathed word that should be read literally.

and Gator, you ain't ignorant, your faithful. big difference man.

you guys are freakin crazy if you believe all that stuff really happend.

How did noah build a boat big enough for a male and female of EVERY species on the planet.
DID NOT HAPPEND. end of story.

you guys have been brainwashed by organized religion and the holier than thou people in the churches.
I think god knows i am intelligent enough to figure out that the bible should not be taken literally.
I should learn from the stories and use them as an example on how to live my life.

So i ask you this last question and i will drop the subject... Do you think it is humanly possible
to construct a boat out of wood that can hold a male and female of every single species known to man????
Not only that, but it has to stay afloat for 40 days and you have to have enough food and water on board to
keep them alive that long??? In my opinion, NO you can't.

is it "humanly possible" to be dead for 4 days, then be brought back to life? lazarus was

is it "humanly possible to turn water into wine?

is it "humanly possible" for walls of a great city to fall down after simply marching around several days and blowing a trumpet?

and there are many many more examples that I could go into.

if you are answering these questions purley with logic, the answer is no. If you believe (and you may not, I don't know) that Jesus was the Son of God and rose from the dead after 3 days, how can you so emphatically state that Noah's ark wasn't real?

sunnylab,no those things can't be done by humans. That's why we have faith in God who can.
lawdog, you are correct about carbon dating. Why so many people rely on it as hard science requires more "faith" than it would take than to just believe.I know a guy who is an anthropologist who admitted to me that carbon dating something ,is a "shotgun" approach. The older something is, the pattern for error increases.

The forgiveness of my sins and eternity in Heaven rests in something that wasn't humanly possible.
