I have no probs with that.

who cares it he wants his name off of it.... he has already donated the money..... if he wants it off ill start a letter to change the name to the will clark memorial building..... 8)

Looks like Coach Polk knew what he was talking about.

...still 2 more years, according to polk's wanting raffo to have 4 yrs to see if he can successfully hold the reigns, before cohen can fairly be judged.....according to polk's criteria...before we know if he really knew what he was talking about or if it just his emotions lashing out.

Lets see your attendance is terrible, States team is having is worst season since 1975 and your A.D. has slipped out of town. I think its safe to say he knew what he was talking about.

Whats sad is Coach Ron Polk is Ms State baseball and everyone threw him under the bus. It amazes me that people think they know more about baseball than the guy that wrote the book on baseball.

Donia - I am not saying Cohen will not win. What I am saying is Polk made State baseball what is was and I think they at least owed him a little. They should have went with what he wanted with Raffo and if he didnt win they could have made the change in four years. Instead they went with an AD that is no longer at State and divided the Bulldog baseball nation.

I am not picking on State in all of this. It is something all fans can learn by. A coach comes in and gives everything he has to the school for years and takes them to the highest level of the sport. Then fans for some reason think they know more about the game than he does. He starts losing some and the fans are questioning every call he makes. I dont understand why the fans (who seem to know more about the game than the coach) dont start coaching. I mean coaches now make millions of dollars a year but are not as smart as the guy making $30k in the stands. Seems to me if these guys knew as much as they thought they would trade a $30k job for a $900k job. Oh now I know why - They dont know sh** they just think they do.

i see what you're saying about the way the whole situation was handled, overall. i think the overwhelming majority was so glad to be rid of the old stick in the mud ad, that this wasn't as much of an issue as it should have been when byrne didn't take his recommendation. on another note, ron was running us down the same road with, what seemed like, no hope for redemption in the recruiting battle or getting back to our winning ways....and that is what was expected to happen with a replacement that he named and groomed (& that was on board with his "way" of coaching), at least that is my thinking. yes, he wrote the book on baseball, but he never seemed to divert from it, so it was like playing a football game while holding a copy of the opposing team's playbook.

*edited to say he never seemed to divert from it.....never played for him, so i can't say that he never diverted from it. (just many years of baseball camp-he taught me to be a catcher when i was a young'un and i enjoyed it more than any other position i ever played in any sport, for many springs through summers!!),

stick in the mud i was talking about was templeton - former ad, not polk - templeton didn't give us the diamond dawgs, polk did....i understand and fully agree that polk put state baseball where it is today.

...wait, where'd it go??? you change your mind about posting on the subject??

Haha

Took the words right out of my mouth. Unless he can convince two potential first round draft picks not to sign and come to MSU in this years recruiting class, I dont see us getting to Omaha next year. I would say a realistic goal would be for us to be in a regional next year and making it to the CWS within the next 3 years...
