870 Period
Everyduck hunter should own one.
Anyone who says anything else is obviously a topwater.

Do yourself a favor and go to Sportsmans warehouse and have them lay all three out on the counter.
Shoulder all three and feel the quality and then decided. Most likely you will end up chosing between the 870 and the BPS. Then you look at the price tag and take the 870 home.
I have on that has been used for everything, paddle, can't beat it.

I loved my 870. I cost me $165 dollars. It was an 870 Wingmaster trap gun with the Monte Carlo stock and nice wood. It was years ago when lead was legal. The action was very smooth. I weighted the plug space with a steel weight to replace the plug. NEVER had any trouble with it.
Years later, I sold it to a friend. I bought an 1100 for recoil reduction. Kept the steel plug.

My first duck gun was an 870 super mag...it stayed in the shop more than i hunted with it....i traded it on a nova and been huntin with it for 3 years now...been under water, iced over, and covered in mud and still shoots like a charm....it does have a slight rattle in the forearm and packs a pretty hard punch when shootin heavy shot....but you cant beat the price!!

just curious, are you looking at pump guns for budgetary reasons or do you prefer the pump. Personally, I shot a Remington Sportsman--the predecessor to the 870 Express--until I bought my first Auto 5. Haven't owned a pump since. Now shoot a Citori and always will shoot a double.
I'm just wondering if you guys think that a pump has any advantages other than a lower price tag?

Other than price,
Three shots over two in an O/U or double.
If you are short and hunting in a barrel blind, the break-open of a O/U is awkward because of the large angle of break-open and constriction of the blind.
The 870 is a reliable gun. more so than an autoloader.
Much easier and faster to reload an 870 than an O/U.
Some shooters like the fit , balance, weight right out of the box.
Fair resale value.

I like the O/U fit over most other guns. Sleek and points real well.
My Extrema is pretty easy to break apart and there aren't that many more pieces.
Duck hunting is brutal on guns. At least it can be. KISS- keep it simple stupid is usually a good philosophy to have.

I've had all three and I shoot the 870 now. I'm on my second one with the browning and nova in between. I really liked the bps but sold it once when I was broke to pay bills. Got a nova that I never shoot. You can't kill an 870.
