If you are looking at RNT (Rich-N-Tone) duck calls and want one for timber hunting, the new short barrel is what you want. They designed this one not to be so loud for open water/field hunting so you have better bottom end, but will is not going to reach out as far as the Original. Southern Game Calls make good calls as well, but I think you should not buy just one type of call. Give your calls some versatility. Each call is different and sound different with each person. One call may work well one day and the next may not do anything. You can always grab more than one from a different company. The ducks may like one call one day and the next day, they may not respond to it at all.

The poison sgc is cheap. I have one..It's a little joel barrel w/ a cheap plastic insert. It has 2 holes drilled in it.

If your gonna go cheap, get a haydels dr85 or cajun squealer.
I like my echo timber cocabola, it's only about 60-70 bucks..

Just my opinion.

I've had several $125.00 acrylics...those suckers will "freeze" in 80 degree weather with all the spit I put into them.
