Mighty big house cat pic if it was taken at 75-100 yards.Even the ears are defined so they would have to be bigger than my black house cat . That oak tree looks to be about 25in or so and there is a good bit of air between the ground and his belly. I saw a BIG black cat of some kind in Edwards years ago at a great distance sure looke alot like what i saw. My dad swears he saw one up off PAWPAW shoot(not far from the fish camp Scooter)years ago when we hunted at Browns Point. Either way some pics or cast of prints would be nice.

Man oh man. No such thing as a black panther. Period. Not here, not anywhere, they don't exist.
Now is what you are seeing is indeed black, it's a jag, or some other type of cat, but not a panther. The smaller build tells me it's something different. The long tail tell me it's not a house cat.
We do have Fla. Panthers (Cougars) here and they have been sighted numerous times. Most are brown or grey colored. A panther is truly elusive, and will avoid humans at all cost.
They are here, but aren't black.

Pic was taken on Mr. Skelton's land just before entering the Archer Island gate on top of the Greenville Harbor Dike. Photographer was John Ingram from Leland, a local farmer who is a member of Archer Island Hunting Club.
Here is what Dr. Bruce Leupold at MSU says about the picture:
The body structure, the general morphology, the overall stance of the animal, and the musculature (and its relative distribution) makes it likely a domestic cat.
If true, that is one BIG domestic cat.
