Like I said before, its small potatoes type of stuff ---nothing serious or to lose any sleep over.

Some of these rules are absurd, but they are the rules. And I suppose most of them originated out of some type of previous practice by a school or schools which other schools thought were unfair ----usually this involves the smaller schools complaining about incidental things the bigger schools do that the smaller schools cannot afford -----eg giving them a game jersey to wear while on the visit, letting them wear their jerseys out onto the field, announcing their names over the PA system as they enter the field, the size of media guides, the number of calls that can be made to a recruit, the number of in-home visits a coach can have with a recruit, etc. etc. A bunch of mickey mouse BS.

I would like to see Div. 1A paired down to a smaller number of schools, and rules adopted for the larger schools that are simple, easy to understand and follow, and make practical sense. The other little mickey mouse crap that arose out of jealousy/claimed victimization by the smaller schools would be thrown out and/or just apply to the smaller schools.

Speaking of secondary violations, I just heard that MSU had to report several secondary violations recently involving Coach Croom giving recruits rides in his "Croommobile" on recruiting visits. While there was an element of truth to these rumours which required self-reporting, the claims of Colt 45 and fried chicken being consumed on the rides could not be substantiated. And another secondary violation involved Coach Croom having his shirttail out and untucked when he entered the home of K. Ashley on the in-home visit ---this serious violation caused Croom to have to withdraw Ashley's offer, before USC made their offer, meaning that USC really did not "steal" this recruit from MSU. And finally, there was some incidental contact between some MSU recruits and former player/booster Fred Smoot while at a local football game during the holidays ---apparently direct eye contact was made and Smoot nodded his head in their direction and waved. While there were wild reports of Smoot having visited the locker room with some hos, and providing limo rides after the games, and offering to take the recruits on the "Viking Love Boat", all such allegations were proven to be untrue. And there you have it ---the whole story unvarnished and out in the open.

don't forget though pomonk, my third cousin's uncle's cousin, who's kin to aunt mary lou through t-bob and jed, saw Coach Croom picking up the buckets of chicken from the local popeyes. Not to mention perhaps the most serious violation involved several witnesses AND a TV station who caught Croom at the Hunt Club dancing with his shirt off singing "My Humps" with several recruits. The TV station has the film, the NCAA should just ask for it...... although, i would hate for anyone to have to watch that.
