Funny - I attended my first DU banquet about 30 years ago with my Dad. I am still a member because they do more good than bad when you look at the big picture. I support DW too although I have publicly disagreed with a lot of what has been said in their press releases. I guess the real issue is "Is there too much habitat?" There are theories that say the ducks are not concentrated in traditional areas as a result of this. This may be true but I can't believe that too much habitat is a bad thing.

The bottom line is that you can't stereotype a hunter because of the organization they belong to. I know just as many DW members that could fall into the same "store bought" category.

Anyway - I believe that if you have a problem with something, then come up with a better solution....I am all ears.

You sir are the one thing that is hurting ducks. You think this is real funny. I support both DU and DW. I am trying to find any info of what DW has done for the state of MS. Hmm NOTHING. They do not raise money for a certain state. They raise money to help ducks up north, which is fine with me. Would you like me to tell you how much money was spent in MS by DU?

I don't think it's about being cool, it's just about doing what you think will better help our sport of hunting. IF you truly believe giving money to DU does no good for the sport of waterfowl hunting don't do it plain and simple but don't try to sway others decisions by saying they are ruining duck hunting because habitat loss is one of the biggest reasons for duck numbers decling and DU is just trying to put some of it back and protect what is still there so it doesn't turn into a mini mall or parking lot. JUST a THOUGHT. Happy Hunting

I am a DU sponsor. I am a Delta sponsor. I belong to Waterfowl U.S.A. I have been hunting ducks WAY more than 10 years, or 20 years. I am not part of the problem. People who are so greedy that they think ONLY THEY should have ducks to shoot and every one else ("cool guys" "rich guys" "DU hat guys") should give way to them are the problem.

Do something for the ducks, don't just bitch 'cause you ain't shooting any. If you ain't shooting enough ducks to make yourself happy, it ain't DU's fault, DW's fault or anyone's fault but your own.

And thats the bottom line! :D

We need to hire Dr. Evil and start Preperation H to cool the above normal tempretures we are having up north. Then Austin powers and minni me can kill some ducks in the south.
That way DU, DW will have there good name saved. 8)
As far as there being too many hunters and too many holes, who on this board is going to be the first to voluntarily stop hunting and to voluntarily give up some of your duck holes???? The line forms in the rear.
Not me. I’m having a blast. And not because we kill ducks every time we go. We hunted almost everyday of the two weeks and the last eight days sucked big time. Sunday we got up at 3:45 AM and hunted the far eastern delta (you could see the hills), then hunted the far western delta that afternoon (we rode the levee to the hole) and three of us killed three ducks. Wouldn’t trade that last day for a place on the couch though. It's the great hunts that keep those who really love it coming back.

I guess that's one of the benefits of not having a good place to hunt when I was a kid; not needing to slaughter them on every hunt.

Maybe the shorter season and smaller bag limit would not help. But we should be willing to do it if it could. I think most agree mojo's/electronics are an unfair advantage on the juvenile population and it makes sense that $$$ could be the reason those with the clout to get them banned nationwide are not doing it.

Regardless of who, if anyone, is right the debate is healthy though. Sooner or later we either get change, or get an education.

aint nut'n like poppin up a topic no one person has any control over and listening to all the pro's give you the answers. bottom line is this. none of you, or me, are anyone else that you or i know will ever change hunt'n. we sit at work somedays and like to get people going on these forums. i could care less about du or dw.. my whole family farms in the delta and we had plenty of big birds to shoot at. this year...lastyear...and the years before that... true some years are better than others but no matter what we still do the work to concentrate the ducks and it pays off every year.. if not... hey we'll shoot doves or snipe,or rabbits,or hogs,or squirrels, or a goose, a deer and if all that fells... we'll drink a beer...there's no season on them ya know. anyway i give yall credit... yall ain't as bad as those deer hunters. they'll get fightin mad.. you should try it some day.. it's pretty fun. anyway hope yall aint to mad... if so you'll get over it or die with it one.. p.s. i really do think those little logos by yall's names are cute. next time i get on here i might have me one. j/k have a good one and good luck next year..

85 cents of every dollar goes back to the ducks. That puts DU in the top 100 non-profit orgs in the US. I think DU spent around 14 million or something in MS last year. Where ya at Chad? I don't have the paperwork in front of me so I could very well be wrong about the money spent in MS. As far as up north.........that's where ducks breed and raise more ducks to fly to MS.
