I would strongly suggest everyone read "Day of Wrath" by William Forstchen. It's short and won't take long to read it. If it doesn't open your eyes to how vulnerable we are, I don't know what will.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
With all of these news items of late, it seems there is a whole lot more fear mongering on both sides of the issue. Now, I don't know if all this is driving business up for Chad, however it wouldn't surprise me. And say what you want about Donald Trump, but his idea of blocking all muslims from entering the US is idiotic at best, and lunacy at worst. The same can be rightfully said about our President's plan for increased gun control. Let's face it, his speech the other night was a complete waste of time. It, like his 'isis strategy', has completely failed miserably.
I hate to beat a dead horse and hi-jack a thread, but I'd like a straight answer to the following questions, and not just so much internet "hot air":
What do you think our government can do about the terrorist threat that we hear so much about?
And,
What do you think we, as citizens, should do about the terrorist threat in our own communities? Or, is there even such a threat with which to contend?
Not trying to scare anyone. Just another lowly government employee who happens to be concerned. Thoughts?

Nobody owes you anything.

Since the Paris attacks and the San Bernardino the calls and registration has gone up.. This is the case when any shocking incident happens.. After the Sandy Hook shooting things went crazy.. All handguns out of stock, all AR15 out of stock and ammo shortages that are just starting to catch back up. Things are starting to get crazy again.. All AR15 are really hard to come by unless you want to spend 1k Plus. And Ruger LCPs (since the price drop) are out of stock too.. I have had about 6 - 7 new registrations since the CA attack.jacksbuddy wrote:Ladies and Gentlemen,

As for what can the Govt do? Neither of the two shooters were on any watch list. They were free to buy guns, ammo, pipe bombs and even travel to and from the mid east without anyone knowing. They even had contacts with known terrorist overseas and yet our intelligence community didn't have them on the radar.. This is most likely due to them being overwhelmed and unable to keep up with the number of growing threats in a society where communications methods change faster than the Govt can keep up. I believe this will continue to get worse. While the Govt is doing it's best I think it is obvious some of these terrorist will continue to slip through the cracks..
As for what can we as citizens do? Learn the tactics and techniques to deal with a threat such as an active shooter.. This includes having plans in place besides duck and cover.. In fact I am working with a State dept right now on helping them create a plan for their building.. In addition, I believe it is very important to carry a firearm everywhere you legally can carry.. You are going to have to decide on how much firearm is enough, but I am carrying as much gun as I can, everywhere I can. I know most of us on here are familiar with firearms, but there is so much more than just knowing how to shoot a rifle or pistol. I am not trying to convince anyone to take one of my classes, but I can promise you that if you take either my PPIH or PPOH course each which cost $125 you will walk away with a whole different perspective.
The treats right now are low for a terrorist attack in MS, but they are growing.. Add into account the push against police officers from the media and the general threat of crime. The threats will continue to get more prevalent..
