For you with the Bodyguard 380, shy away from PMC ammo. We had a guy qualifying with his backup gun and that combination was making the bullets flip. He switched ammo and the problem was solved.

Thats good to know Rob. Ive shot a few hundred rounds of cheap ammo through it for practice but carry with Hornady or Remington Sabre ammo. Its a suprisingly accurate little pistol for the size.

anybody carrying a sig 229?

Our sizes are similar. I have tried to carry a 4" 1911 several different ways, and one whole side of my body was square. Just cant get it figured out.

If you wear an outer garment (vest jacket) heck you can conceal a sawed of shotgun. That is no problem. The problem lies in khakis and a dress shirt or polo shirt. I walked into a gun shop the other day and a guy had some gun in a cross breed holster or something similar. The shirt was all pulled out on the side, the clips were obvious, etc. He might as well been wearing one of those "shoot me first" vest. That is NOT concealed.

The P229 is a lot of gun to carry.. Not only on size but weight.. I think that joker weighs 34 Oz. That is almost a full pound heavier than similar sized double stack guns..

Currently the simplest leather "slide" holster, not the official yaqui slide design, but the basic two pieces of leather sewn with a metal belt retention clip is what keeps my Browning Hi-Power in the small of my back. Yes there are downsides to that mode of carry, but hey, slide the thing around to whatever tactically correct mode works for you.

I used to use a larger left handed holster, which when put in the small of my back, puts the grip at just the right angle for a right handed draw. (I'm right handed). Just became too much hassle, the metal belt clip is easy on & off. The point of mentioning that is to get creative if need be.

Any holster is better than none at all, and even having something in an ankle holster is better than leaving your weapon at home in the sock drawer, but I digress.

I'll usually just put the extra mag loose in my left front pocket, with nothing else i.e. loose change, swiss army knife, etc. Gives me a total of 29 rounds.

I feel much better with that, than a J-frame and a speed loader, (which I also used to carry)

How do you guys carry your extra mags?

Front left pocket, cartridge facing down and bullet tips facing left. That way when you reach into your pocket you can put your left index finger on the bullet tip so when you pull the mag out your pocket the tip of your finger drives the front of the magazine yo the the front of the mag well. This allows you to load the mag into the gun without having to look or fumble with the orientation of the mag and allows you to keep your eyes on the threat..

I use a soft case pocket knife case that you run your belt through. I lost the knife a couple years ago and found the extra shield mag fits in nicely and the Velcro flap holds everything tight. Knives in this part of the country are very common so it does not cause any concern about anywhere I go.

I am glad someone else agree's those double clip IWB holsters just are not that comfortable. I was looking at single clip "tuckable" holsters just yesterday. I am about to pull the trigger on a new one.

I still use the left handed holster small of back carry with a cover garment on. it is easy and comfortable. today I am trying a 4" kimber in a desantis tuckable. I have had it on 10 minutes and it sucks. it is pretty concealed but it ain't comfortable
