I am shocked that no one has commented on the health benefits of sipping fine bourbon/whiskey and smoking quality cigars.

My advice is to start drinking fine whiskey and smoking boutique cigars immediately. Otherwise, you could......

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

That's the exact reason you diet or eat healthy, so that you can splurge every now and then but not daily. It's ok to cheat and enjoy food occasionally. When splurging like that you can also usually contain the portions of food that you consume while still being able to enjoy "the good stuff" without doing a ton of damage. It's actually good for your metabolism to cheat every now in then and consume more calories.

Something I've learned over the years with my eating is that i prefer to break my meals out into 5-6 smaller meals through out the day consisting of 200-300 cals per meal. This number can change for people trying to add muscle mass or cutting as you can't be catabolic and anabolic at the same time with consuming sub maintenance calories. The reason i mention about splitting the meals out into 5-6 is that your stomach will naturally shrink due to the lower amounts of food consumed at one time. it will also help to speed up your metabolism.

It was a little embarrassing for me at first as you would see these folks lifting heavy and I couldn't do it. But, I finally came to the conclusion I wasn't there to impress anyone but myself. I was there for me. So I kept going and it started becoming a habit. I didn't lose a ton (20lbs) but I dropped 4 inches of my waist and fat started becoming muscle.
Ha.. I posted this to my facebook account yesterday after a trip to the gym.

"Been going to the gym for about a year now, and from what I remember in my sophomore year weight lifting class we were always taught to lift with slow controlled motion and isolate the muscle. All these other guys that are half my size are lifting twice my weight, but using very little form or motion. It's like they pack on the weight and get it to move by any means necessary. Is this a new technique that I don't know about?

I am not there to swing the biggest weight.. I am there to build muscle, work on tone and get in better shape.. My goal is to be healthier and in better shape at 45 than I was at 25. It took me 15 years to get out of shape from 25 to 43 so I can't expect it get back in shape in 6 months.. It is hard with a full time job, a side job, 2 kids and wife. But I strive for 10K steps a day and at least an hour in the gym twice a week.. It is not uncommon for me to turn on the TV in the living room and the Den and walk the circle; living room, kitchen, den, living room, kitchen, den :D at night while watching the news.. I know it seems weird.. But it is much better than sitting on the couch and eating bon bons...

I used to train with some competitive body builders, and that's how they trained. ..they still stressed proper form to prevent injuries, bit it was all about "hot nasty bad ass speed"..

According to them...the heavy weights at fast speed builds "usable" muscle quicker; where as the slow reps helps shape / form the built muscle (body builder routine)
