Re: The Embarrassment That Is Les Miles
Interesting reading on the Ole Miss boards...people very dismissive of Coach O. I think it's ridiculous to balk at the man b/c of what happened while he was at Oxford. I guess we shall see...I expect him to do some things recruiting...whether he'll out coach Brick Haley on the line, and whether the addition of he and Steele will make for a solid Defense I guess we will see.

I don't pay any attention to Ole Miss boards, but I would assume that would be the case. He is not head coach material and that hire was a poor one for Ole Miss. However, his recruiting while there produced some top end talent that carried Nutt for his first few seasons.camlock wrote:Interesting reading on the Ole Miss boards...people very dismissive of Coach O. I am very disappointed in the DC hire. Orgeron and his recruiting ability has made me feel a little better. He has recruited and coached 11 first round pick defensive lineman - far more than Brick Haley. Since Haley has been coaching the DL, it has gotten worse every year...in recruiting, development and performance.
Back to the Ole Miss topic...Orgeron and Steele were in Mississippi yesterday recruiting Leo Lewis and Jamal Peters. I think LSU has a good chance to pull one, if not both, of those players in this class now. Point being, Orgeron will hopefully help keep Louisiana talent in state and will also cherry pick a player or two from MS, TX and FL that would not have otherwise been in play.

Under what premise do you believe they have a "good chance" of pulling either long time in state commitments from OM and MSU? Because two new coaches visited them 3 weeks before signing day? I'm not being rude, it probably sounds that way, I really wanna know why you feel this way? I think TAMU would have the best opportunity to pull either of those two if Chavis came calling on them...both have relationships with him from previous LSU recruiting...both have been LONG time relationships with OM and MSU coaching staffs.Deltamud77 wrote:I don't pay any attention to Ole Miss boards, but I would assume that would be the case. I'm not at all saying it won't happen or can't happen...but I am saying that living down here in LSU country and following closely, it seems like Panamsky, Dixon, Scarbrough, etc. are really good at making LSU fans believe LSU can get any player at any time they want them, on even the smallest amount of contact or info.

Lewis is more likely than Peters...I don't follow any of the LSU recruiting guys. I'm basing my info on conversations from a friend in the athletic department.

LSU added two great recruiters and I think Orgeron brings a lot of passion and enthusiasm that may have been missing from the DL in Baton Rouge. I am not sold on Steel as a DC but is a great recruiter and solid LB coach.
