Yeah. After reading this thread I've learned most cops are idiots out to harass people. Yet people still dial 911 when they need em.
There are situations when you are not necessarily breaking any laws but are required to show ID. I'm thinking of roadblocks as mentioned, hunting, fishing, buying beer and cigs, entrance to a club, cashing a check, using a debit/ credit card, etc. Nobody knows the cop's side of this video. Most are making their opinion on the citizen's view. As mentioned, maybe the guy looked young, who knows? He seemed like a knowledgable, courteous kinda cop. He seemed intelligent enough to know how to do his job.

Also, the "gentleman" in the photo has more than likely been convicted of several felonies and would not be allowed to "legally" carry a gun, but your point was well made with this guy, he looks like a sure upstanding citizen!
A majority of the general public are law abiding citizens but the few that are not are the ones that hate law enforcement and would jump at at chance to bash them until........ they have a crime committed against them then it's where are the police, I need the police, help he robbed me !!

Well prfoling/stereotyping is all okay with me, I think it is actually necessary, while I have no problem profiling the guy in the picture I also have no problem with you or anyone else profiling me for my screen name. I expect you are not the only one who thinks you know something about me for the "numerics" of my screen name, but at this point you only think you know about me, same with this guy, I don't know if he is a criminal, but he looks like one, like you said you advertise you gonna get the business, which is why I don't mind if you "profile" me....but until he (I) actually breaks a law and has committed a crime, don't treat him (me) like he is a crimnal...it's fine to think he might be one, but if you only think you know, like you think you know about me cause my screen name, you got no business infringing on his rights.
and all this talk about if it is concealled you have no problem with someone carrying, but open carry makes you uncomfortable...that is all BS, if you have a gun you have a gun, it is no less dangerous or safe beacause people can see it or not see it. IF you want to carry concealled..go ahead, if you want to carry open..go ahead cause it's YOUR RIGHT TO DO SO and everybody else and their feelings of being uncomfortable cause they can see your gun be damned

Your opinion is your opinion and I agree with most of it, but I have to call you out on one thing. Open carry is LESS safe than CC. It is less safe for you because it makes you a target and less safe for those around you because someone else could potentially end up with your weapon in their hands. YOu wont have someone trying to snatch it if they dont know it is there.420 racin wrote:RDB wrote:So you're ok with profiling and assuming that a person with a certain "look" has more than likely been convicted of several felonies but not with a police officer doing his job. True. And if someone is robbing (or about to rob) a store and they see you have a gun, you are now their first target.bulldog ducker wrote: Your opinion is your opinion and I agree with most of it, but I have to call you out on one thing. I think my original post was edited because I did not use the word "peepee." Since when has asking a question become harrassment? The kid could have been a bit more mature about the situation. He felt big and bad because he was in law school. He wanted to show off a bit. What was the harm of him being stopped and asked a question about carrying a firearm? Don't give me all this "it means the police can come stop you and your family eating a cheeseburger and question you." Get serious. Even if it is an open carry state, I'd much rather prefer the police stop and question someone before rather than after a shooting. Maybe its just Open Carry laws aren't that great after all. Either way, the kid will eventually run himself into some trouble/charge(s). Granted a charge may not stick but having to go through the hassel of being arrested, bond, hearing(s), etc. its much easaier to simply and calmly explain yourself instead of acting like this kid did. The officer could have easily arrested him for whatever they wanted, made him sit around the station in cuffs, wait til things get sorted out, booked, sit in a holding cell, etc. then release him after he's wasted a day or more because he ran his mouth a llittel too much. It happens.

I would never infringe on anybody's rights. But I will take alot closer look at you if you advertise. Just saying ! Make sure the attention you want is what you expected.420 racin wrote:RDB wrote:So you're ok with profiling and assuming that a person with a certain "look" has more than likely been convicted of several felonies but not with a police officer doing his job.
