Also, another way to look at this is as follows. What exactly is Marshall doing that is so "classless" or lacking in class?

At home, he turns to our fans and makes gestures to fire them up. No different from any football game I have ever seen.

He occasionally uses the "fins up" sign in honor of our football defensive team members who asked him to do it --- Landsharks. No different from what our football players do after a big play.

And on the road, almost every gesture he has made or statement uttered to opposing fans has been something that those very same fans were using during the game. Right back at them. So, if the opposing fans do it, its "classy"? But, if Marshall does the same gestures or other type of smack right back at them, its "classless". Oookkkkeeeedooookeeee. In reality, Marshall is often just a mirror reflection of the opposing fans' behavior. He feeds off of the negative emotions being displayed by the opposing fans, and turns it into something positive for himself and our team. Its an us vs them attitude on the road --- something we used quite well over the course of the last 4 games, and something that will be needed to win in the NCAA tournament.

What is differnent about Marshall is that he is not only a very good basketball player with great basketball skills, and a very good teammate (always supportive of his teammates), but he is also a "fan" at times during the game, showing emotion. And I suppose to some, that his acting like a "fan" at times, caught up in the emotion of a game, is inappropriate, annoying, "classless", etc. --- the same adjectives we all use to describe opposing fan behavior, but not our own of course.

I have enjoyed watching him play all season. He is entertaining to watch play the game. The antics are just the icing on the cake.

Well said Po. Very well indeed. I admire his hustle and intensity. I know kids that know him . They say he is hilarious and and full of life off the court. But his approach to the game cost him 1st team all sec even though he was the leading scorer. His thoughts on that " well I guess those coaches now are the losers and I am the winner" or something like that..

To the football talk...I'll be honest, it is the same what Marshall does and I don't like it on the football field anymore than I like it from Marshall Henderson on the basketball court. And to that extent, not a single fan of any team in the SEC (or anywhere) should say a word if you support your defensive backfield in football then you should not say a word about Marshall Henderson in my mind, they are the same situation. I personally don't like either and I support Ole Miss b/c I do, but I would tell you or Marshall I don't like his antics or his style.

Cannot and will not defend Mullen. I don't like some of the things Mullen has said and I don't like how he acts and how he pouts when things don't go his way. Don't like how Cohen runs his mouth and the way he curses in front of young children. Could not stand Renardo Sidney or that entire team for that matter. Hated what Banks had to say about Ole Miss before the egg bowl. Then he got toasted in the game and could not back up his big talk. I would still cheer for State if Henderson was on our team but I would not like him. Just don't understand why some Ole Miss fans refuse to admit that Henderson is a clown. Some even go so far as to say they approve of his behavior and make up reasons why it is ok. I am fine with the shark fin and getting members of his team fired up, but the gator chomp went to far for me.

I wish Marshall Henderson played for State....he is a great player and if he doesn't self destruct, will probably have a nice NBA career.

All my points are around the fact that the Rebel fans can't recognize / won't admit the guy the guy for what he is (or anything about their programs for that matter).......I can sit here and tell you that Renardo Sydney was a lazy piece of doo doo and a cancer on State's basketball team. I pulled for him, and always hoped that he would live up to his potential......but recognized what he is. I never in my life tried to paint a picture that he was just "misunderstood" and a great person.

Eli Manning is as good as an ambassador for the University of Mississippi as anyone could ask for. When he was at Ole Miss, I went to most games just to watch him. LOVED the 7 OT game against Arkansas....he was a phenominal competitor......but I hated him because he went to Ole Miss.

So there.....I guess I am trying to identify / seperate reality from emotions........

MH is a thug and lacks class on every level and makes your University less appealing, to the point of being an embarrasment......most people around the country say the same thing about him. He is an awesome basketball player, but lacks all class and everything remotely close to class........which is what makes it so funny to watch the Ole Miss fans defend him......again, a great player, but no class. It's OK to still love him because he is a Rebel, I get that.....but it's also OK to admit what he is.

I'm with you----this is what I said on the first page about Henderson:
Can't say that I blame anyone for the negative Henderson posts - he's polarizing for sure and I'm sure the only fans in the SEC that like him are OM fans...I'm an OM fan and I can admit that I'd hate the guy if he played for any other SEC team....but he doesn't and he's a damn good player that's definitely not scared to be the go to guy.

I don't mind the landshark thing or if he's talking a little smack to the player guarding him - I didn't like the gator chomp he did or what he did after the Auburn game or when he talks crap to the fans or the occasional 30 foot fall away with 20 seconds left on the shot clock - that crap needs to be gone.

Aside from his talent I do like that he plays his booty off and that he's a competitor.

What I can't stand are players with talent that are lazy as hell and think they're above the team (Jalen Kendrick, Renardo Sydney, Pat Patterson in football) that drives me crazy - Sydney could've been a lottery pick if he gave a crap.

Henderson will not see the floor in the NBA.

I'm not embarrassed about Marshall's antics on or off the court. So far it's nothing more than what we've seen before from other players. I like his passion, how hard he plays, and the way he plays. That goes a long way with me.
