instead of offering a kid a scholly and him comitting and you moving your efforts for month forward towards other needs only to have Auburn offer him $200k 5 days before signing day and have him flip...they can offer a scholly dependent on early signing and then the recruit makes up his mind for real and kills all this B.S. "committing" in recruiting. They sign in the early period, they are no eligible to sign in the later period...they make up their mind and the families can make their plans and the programs as well knowing which hens are in the hen house...so to speak...makes more than perfect sense...too much for the NCAA

and another scenario...coaches can't decide a player in Maryland or Florida or Cali is better after he's offered you and you accepted verbally months before and turned away other potential opportunities that have been essentially filled and you are now forced to pay your way or be gone...players protected from the corned greyshirt in February.

it all better organizes for prospects and families and for programs...saves tons of money and promotes a more fair and ethical process in my opinion...and I don't mean ethical in terms of my shot at Auburn, i mean ethical in terms of coaches word to a player or vice versa...

I still don't see how it changes things......you offer a kid as a Jr for example (happens all the time).....then lets say the early signing period is in August before his senior season.......I just see the same chaos happening in august to get kids to "sign early" that you have during the regular signing period.......probably deserves a conversation over a beer, I am sure I am missing something.

The whole "committing" thing has lost its value. Kids these days are not as true to their word and commit only to get a better offer and leave another school hanging at the last minute (could be money, hotter coeds escorting them around, or they liked the grass on campus better). Instead of an early signing period just let the kids sign on the dotted line whenever they are ready instead of waiting until a signing day. If they want to go a certain school let them sign and get it over it. The big name recruits could wait and go through all the drama if that is what they like but the others could just get it over with and focus on their senior year. I would put a stipulation that they needed to wait a 2-3 days after an official visit before they could sign to give them a couple of days to think it through. Most of these 17-18 year old kids can't think straight anyway so they need a few days to clear their head after visits.

Makes perfect sense.......sign when you are ready.......seems too simple, but I like it!
