Re: Duck dynasty
I'm stilling smiling today everytime I think of my boys laughing out loud while watching it (4 y.o. and 5 y.o.). They couldn't stop laughing when the snake fell in the boat and they kept showing Willie diving out. They thought it was hilarious that they were catching frogs. I'm sure i'll be watching it each week with them.

Re: Duck dynasty
When I watch TV, I always tune in if they are on with their hunting show. I didn't catch the first episodes, but I will try next time.
I've always thought they were very entertaining and funny.

One thing that I like about it is that you don't have to watch ling to see that they are faking their knowledge of the swamp. That wasn't Phil's first time to skin a frog or Jase's first time to run a net. Some of the stuff is apparently put on, but overall it is better entertainment than most things on TV and my wife is entertained by Phil's dry sense of humor!!

Phil telling his grandson what to look for in a woman was pretty priceless.JLT wrote:One thing that I like about it is that you don't have to watch ling to see that they are faking their knowledge of the swamp.
Thought it was pretty good. Obviously, they are trying to make a show that appeals to many across the country. You have to hand it to them. They have made a major business out of literally nothing.
One time several years ago I was driving back from a wedding in Texas and stopped at the Raising Canes in West Monroe right off the interstate for lunch. When I walked in (around noon on a Sunday) I noticed four or five tables pushed together in the middle with kids (from young to early teens) all the way around. I look up and here comes Willie Robertson with boxes of Cane's chicken. I am sure that some of the kids were his, but some were not for obvious skin tone reasons. All dressed in church clothes. I, to this day, don't know the reason, but it made an impression on me that he was obviously churching and feeding a bunch of kids that he didn't have to with his wife and I think one other couple.
From that point forward, I have decided to give those guys the benefit of the doubt. Moreover, how many shows on main stream TV make a point to show the characters praying at least once an episode as a family?
Thank you. I noticed it in both episodes. Such a nice refresher from the typical A&E/gay pride shows that almost made me delete A&E from my channels a year or so ago.
It's TV. I'm sure they do some stuff for entertainment, but Mr. Phil was sporting that nasty beard 20 years ago when he made his first duck calling video and he still has it now. He's always been a swamp man. He said it on the show, these kids started out poor but are now little rich kids; he knows where he came from. Cutting heads off of frogs and skinning them on mainstream TV. I enjoyed watching it and laughed the whole way through.

Re: Duck dynasty
My wife even watched it with me last night and enjoyed it. Mind you, this is a woman who does NOT like to watch any hunting shows of any kind. Heck, until last night, she wondered just why in the world I would ever like to go duck hunting in the first place. (She's been on one, and ONLY one, dove hunt in her life; never to go hunting again unless it is a matter of life and limb - and even then it will take some serious convincing on somebody's part.) Now she thinks all my friends are just like the Robertsons.

I think thats a big part of it. They are not much different that alot of people we know. Most of us kill/catch, clean, and eat wild animals all the time and dont think twice about it. This show isnt much for us because other than having kick booty beards and owning a hunting company they are just like us. Think of how our way of life is being portrayed for the rest of the world to see. The fags in San Fransisco and the Yankees up North and watching is for the shock factor, while we are seeing a guy like us "make it". Sure he will sell out to the highest paying shotgun/clothing company, but he is helping bring the outdoors/southern way of life to alot of poeple who dont know a thing about it. We are blessed beyond measure and we dont even know it and Hollywood is just now figureing it out.

some of you seem a bit mad cause you didnt make millions off of hunting and selling duck calls. LOL. haters gonna hate.
Willie got out that boat fast when that snake dropped LOLLL
Mighty presumptuous of you. The show had its good points, as stated, just not my cup of tea.
you did put in the plug, right?

Looks to me ole Si spent a many a night up in the ole hooch toking the jungle weed in Nam..
Great show with an excellent message to the outside world of the south, especially about cell phones and video games. My son is trying to go down that path at 5 and i'll be darned if he turns out like a "city kid" as ole Phil puts it.
Phil, like my old man, is a dying breed. Every chance my son gets to hang out with his Paps i jump on it. If our kids take just a sprinkle off of what our dads do and say they will turn out just fine.
My favorite line was about the 7 Robertson kids and all but one going to college

I did not care that much for the show. But I do agree with Rob about them praying at every meal. Phill is or was a Pentecostal preacher so I would say they are a faith based family.
They bleeped a few words but I liked that every word was not the fbomb or gd.
