What do y'all think of Trump?
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
I supported Ted Cruz in the primaries and as a senator I still support him today.
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
All day long...that means there’s already liberal utopias these “progressives” can pack up and move to. Trudeau doesn’t even believe in using the word “mankind”. In fact, he will correct you if you use it in his presence. You must say “personkind”. Progressives are in love with him!Wildfowler wrote:Canada = socialist
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
I did not know that.
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
Teddy Roosevelt ran on a progressive ticket.
The word has meant many things over time, these days it's something like this;
"Progressivism has historically been associated with science, rationality and an approach to government and society reliant on knowledge and empirical methods. It has often been counterpoised with populism, which is a movement among the common folk. Progressives tended to be people with education and some standing in the world."
It's also become a favorite moniker for conservatives to label those they consider their enemies.
If that current definition is accurate, I can see why.
I doubt they will be running to Canada, neither will the Latinos, the Blacks, the other religions that aren't the protestant whites who think they own this country. Nope, I doubt they will be running to much of anything but the polls.
At least not until global warming turns America into a desert and Canada welcomes everyone except white protestants........

Well, it’s official. Socialist candidates are “the future” of the Democratic Party.

Also, the early 19th century definition of “progressive” is nowhere close to applicable today

. In truth, modern conservatives more closely represent the ideals of CLASSIC liberalism....personal liberty and limited governmentdavidees wrote:YoBenny wrote:Teddy Roosevelt ran on a progressive ticket.

Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
It seems that Democratic Socialism is indeed on the rise, at least in name, even though huge segments of our societal function are already socialized and have been since their inception.

There is no question that the government is bloated with problems just like this one, and many other ways that people are using it to drive the costs of many things into the stratosphere. But it's not the democratic socialist that support this, not at all. In fact they think the same thing that you do - it has to stop.
However that's not the picture of it that conservatives love to paint. It's almost a throwback to McCarthyism when they use it. Here's the countries leading democratic socialist grilling the head of the FDA about protecting Big Pharma like mafia henchmen right in front of God and everybody, just exactly what is wrong with big pharma, but somehow, to conservatives, what the man says has no valued to them. Even though that is exactly what is going to have to be done to stop big pharma from driving insurance and health costs to unaffordable levels.Democratic socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically—to meet public needs, not to make profits for a few. To achieve a more just society, many structures of our government and economy must be radically transformed through greater economic and social democracy so that ordinary Americans can participate in the many decisions that affect our lives.
Democracy and socialism go hand in hand. All over the world, wherever the idea of democracy has taken root, the vision of socialism has taken root as well—everywhere but in the United States. Because of this, many false ideas about socialism have developed in the US.

Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
Even a broken clock is right twice a day, everybody knows that...But you will never win with me when you insist on murdering babies and taking guns from citizens...when you insist on expanding the welfare state and restricting the 1st Amendment while completely ignoring the 10th. Thats the same knucklehead who subjected a Trump nominee to an unconstitutional religious test like I referred to earlier. He’s a dirtbag.
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
Murdering babies? I don't agree with that either, it's just a baby is a human not a pile of stuff encased in placenta.
I think their beef is you don't get to decide for any other person what to do with they body because of your own personal ideas about it. Sorry. If you dont like abortions then maybe conservatives should have stopped destroying Planned Parenthood where so many poor women get pills to stop the need for abortions. Ahhh nahhh yall just want them to just say no to sex, I guess.........
I don't agree with taking peoples guns away either. You might find a lot of those in this bunch but you ask for it by refusing any sort of sensible restraint on weapons in the private sector. You don't like murdering babies but you got no problem with a nut job slaughtering school kids? How does that work exactly?
I think most of them stand firmly behind first amendment rights as do I. However at least for me, there must be consequences and responsibility for what happens as a RESULT of what you say. Sure, tell some people to go kill those gooks over there, but if they actually do it, YOU are an accessory to the crime.
States rights are important but they must also have limits. I think the Fed has been pretty cooperative in that regard, a current example is state legalized weed which is still a federal offense and ridiculously classified as a Category 1 drug alongside the heroin and opium that the pharmaceutical companies have used to addict 12% of the countries population to their products. (weed is not lethal and non addictive in case you dont know that)
So all these points you make seem to point to the "eminent doom" of the country when in fact ALL Of them are nothing of the sort. This is just hard line conservative shop talk and none of it is actually real.

Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
Oh yeah, because everyone knows guns are what causes people to go on killing sprees and not the “progressive” driven lack of morality or respect for human life...As for what morally inept and grossly irresponsible people do with their own bodies, I don’t care even a little bit, but here’s a very simple concept that anyone can understand- A BODY LIVING INSIDE YOUR BODY IS NOT YOUR BODY. The sad part is you know that and so do all the other useful “progressives”. You know that something with a heartbeat, its own DNA, and the ability to move about on its own and even feel pain is a living being, but you do what you gotta do to dehumanize the child so you can justify your bent for this needless atrocity...there’s no excuse for abortion when there are Just. So. Many. Ways. To. Prevent. Pregnancy.
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
And of course states’ rights have limits, its all outlined in the very simple to read and understand text of the constitution...the fed has done a good job of cooperating with that? Reeeeeeeeeaaaaally? Like in Obergfeld v Hodges for example? How is that NOT a violation of the 10th Amendment? Read the constitution and tell me how that is not a blatant violation. Find in the text for me where it says the federal government has ANY authority over marriage. While you’re at it, find education in there and explain to me how the Federal Dept of Education is constitutional.
Re: What do y'all think of Trump?
Oh so it's progressives now right? Yeah, this guy who walked into a church and killed 8 people because they were black really looks like a progressive to ME for sure.Oh yeah, because everyone knows guns are what causes people to go on killing sprees and not the “progressive” driven lack of morality or respect for human life
Do you even remotely understand how incredibly messed up that thinking of yours is?
It's not progressives killing people buddy. It IS however, them calling for responsible gun laws, like closing the gun show loophole and limiting the size of clips, AND doing something about the horrible mental health care system that exists today because Big Pharma has a pill for everything except shooting 48 people in a vegas parking lot.
You really are a high and mighty know it all fella, all those great morals the religious have been displaying of late.
