Bought my first shotgun from Gibson's in Tupelo. Mossberg 20ga pump, total of 7 parts in the whole gun. Even a 12 year old could field strip and reassemble it. Wore that gun slap out, it was a shooter.

By the way, I WORKED for a long time to earn half the $ for that gun. Pop said he'd pay for half if I'd earn the rest. Buddy I appreciated that gun and took better care of it than any collector!

Hey Swampie, This really got some pretty good replies but Im going to take you back just a little futher that that. You may not be that old but do you remember the 1 duck limit? Im not so sure but I know I remember the 2. Dad and them talked about it so much when I was little Im not sure if I hunted in that era or not. But I can definately remember the 2 duck limit. I also remember when the point system came around we thought we'd died and gone to heaven! We could kill 10 ducks! LEGALY!!!!

I also remember the first $3 Federal Duckstamp too!

do any of you know who is credited with making the points sytem possible?, he did his masters thesis on duck body temps after death,

his name was Tommy Morrow, ironically as much as the old schoolers in here liked the points system, he was knocked in the head and killed for his work and his efforts to promote waterfowl limits.

just an old school random fact

I used to go to Gibson's all the time ... Couldnt' afford a bike so we just walked... It's long gone but we still refer to it as Gibson's parking lot here in Cleveland
