"Fighting on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics...Even if you win, you're still retarded"...
MEMO TO PML, BR&GH, MSDAWG870AND THE OTHER GW NAYSAYERS:
You have rejected NASA, the UN's Intergovermental Panel on Climate Change, the National Academy of Sciences, the Nobel Prize Committee and every other major scientific organization on the planet with your tripe about global warming not being man made...You have ignored the trillion dollar investment decisions, the 190+ companies who make up the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the 16 US states who have passed state level GHG emissions reduction legislation...Even worse for the purposes of MS DUCKS, you have ignored common sense that GW is a credible aspect of the northern movement of the southern end of the waterfowl migration...
You have kept your heads buried deep in the sand on this issue depsite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary of your position...As such it is with particular delight that I inform you that all of your arguments were considered, weighed and rejected by the US Supreme Court in its landmark ruling yesterday... Lest anyone try to paint the Supreme Court with the "L" word, this is a court comprised largely of Republican presidential nominees...For this court to make such a ruling, the evidence had to be beyond incontrovertible. Wake up and smell the coffee gents. GHG induced GW is real and it will be a factor in all our lives, for the rest of our lives. The regulation of carbon dioxide emissions is upon us.
Supreme Court Ruling Opens Door For Global Warming Solutions, Duke Experts Say
Science Daily — Today’s Supreme Court’s ruling that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has the power to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from cars opens the door for a concerted, nationwide approach to dealing with global warming, say two Duke University environmental experts.
Robert B. Jackson, faculty director of Duke’s Center on Global Change and professor of biology, said, “This really confirms what a mountain of evidence already suggests: that carbon dioxide harms the environment as a greenhouse gas. The billion-dollar question is how to regulate it as cheaply and efficiently as possible.â€
Tim Profeta, director of Duke’s Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions, said, “Today’s ruling flips the greenhouse gas debate completely on its head, by giving the next administration the authority to simply regulate carbon dioxide emissions without waiting for Congress.
“In this climate, a national cap-and-trade program should start to look a lot more attractive,†Profeta said. “Industry should be coming to Congress to design a flexible and efficient program right now; that’s a more certain approach than waiting for EPA to determine how to apply greenhouse gases to the Clean Air Act.â€
Cap-and-trade programs are those that set overall authorized caps on emissions and then allow the buying and selling of those emissions credits.
By a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court ruled that the EPA has offered no reasoned explanation for its refusal to regulate vehicles’ emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases related to global warming.
The ruling is considered to be one of the most important on environmental issues to reach the Supreme Court in decades. It marks the first high court decision in a case that involves climate change.
“With this landmark ruling out of the way, we can finally roll up our sleeves and get to work on the problem of global warming,†Jackson said, adding that he could envision a cap-and-trade system that initially is implemented nationwide but ultimately expanded worldwide.

WRONG!!! If CO2 emissions were not a cause of global warming, they would not be subject to regulation under the Clean Air Act...The SC thoroughly evaluated GW science and the naysayer arguments and concluded that the scientific evidence is incontrovertible, then ruled accordingly...That is why this ruling is such a big deal.

Yes, I have. Elvis was in the blind with me many times this past duck season. Elvis is a good hunter, who is laid back and really likes sitting with me on our patio at the duck camp, grilling out, and listening to blues music. And he is quite fond of baked "Turducken".
And, yes I have been to remote parts of Arizona --- the Sedona area in particular ---very peaceful and relaxing --- I got in touch with my inner self in the mountains of Sedona through quiet meditation, smoked payote, and spoke to the ancient Indian spirits. And these spirits told me that you and the other chicken littles are full of schit.

Hammer you're up against TWO lawyers so you've got a tough row to hoe to prove anything. One is bad enough but throw two in the mix and they'll confuse the hell out of you.
And why are there so many posts on this? Hell it's been getting warmer just a little bit every year it seems since I was in diapers 25 years ago (man I'm getting old). Why is everyone just now making a fuss about it? It'll go back to an ice age at some point. Cycles folks, cycles.

Ah, but rj, that's the beauty of this new religion of man caused climate change. If its too hot, we limit and store the CO2 emissions. If it starts getting too cold, we increase emissions and release the stored CO2. We just set a world thermostat to the optimal world temperature, and voila --- problem solved. We all feel better about ourselves, and a lot of folks make a lot of money. I know, I know, its all sounds pretty far fetched and kind of self-serving and political. But, when scientific experts like the Supreme Court of the United States render a split 5-4 decision stating that CO2 emissions can be regulated under the Clean Air Act, well....... I suppose that is that ... it is not so much what they said, but what they didn't say. Any nonbelievers will be given Nuremburg type trials and put to death for their heresy.
Wake up rj, and smell the tofu.

rj, it is exactly about cycles...see Po Monkey's take on it....
in the recent plurality decision MASSACHUSETTS, ET AL. v. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY ET AL. , the EPA never disputed whether CO2 contributed to global warming, it was not an issue before the court, the majority's statements that are "such a big deal" to global warming activists are contained in dicta citing Massachusetts' unopposed affidavits.... the holding is merely that absent a finding by the EPA that CO2 is not a pollutant the EPA must regulate CO2 and the other four pollutants....

Thats just insulting...
Dont be insulted JDGator, your chomp-chomps just went back to back to back scoreboard in hoops, pigs and hoops...I like your chances in pigs in 2007 and wouldnt be surprised - if BD sticks around- if the hoopsters didnt make another strong showing next year so all is good for Gator Nation....
I raise this issue because PML and GG like so many Missistakians have not been around, have no sense of the world beyond the Magnolia Curtain...Their denial of GHG induced GW is the latest example of this fear of the outside world...They think that OM, MSU and USM are all that, when in fact, except with an occassional abberation, we routinely get our arses handed to us by the rest of the SEC, and rarely, if ever, compete on the national stage...
This situation is somewhat replicated nationally...Most Americans have no idea that the US is slipping and slipping fast...We are fat, depressed, undereducated, over drugged, gambled and incarcerated...Our educational system is broken, our health care system is broken...We dont take care of our children or our elderly and we are raping and pillaging our environment in the name of "private property rights" yet nobody asks what effect my neighbor's development is having on MY PROPERTY?
The US is undoubtedly the greatest country on Earth but we have problems and our political system is so controlled by big money that these problems are not being addressed in effective ways...
I say all of the abvoe as a proud, 7th generation Mississippian but when something is broke, you fix it...Mississippi has come a long way in my 46 years but we got a long, long way to go and it is the pigheaded, head in the sand mentality displayed by PML, GG, BRGH, etc that is the biggest enemy to progress...
Every reputable (ie non oil company funded) scientist in the world has stated the obvious, that GW is not occurring in a natural cycle, it is being caused by humans, the Supreme COurt, the United Nations, the governments of very wealthy countries as well as very poor ones, major corporatiosn from all over the world, etc have all acknowledged the reality but the MS DUCKS naysayers are so dug into their positions that they cannot abandon their foxholes now and save any credibility so their arguments become increasingly ridiculous...
They are in denial about GHG induced GW like many Americans are in denial about this and many, many other things...All of which is coming back to haunt us, our children and their children...
What is truly amazing is that by taking this position they are siding with the single worst President in American history and denying the positions of a great Republican with strong Mississippi ties- Senator John McCain...
Note that none of the above was on my mind when I took my 2nd gobbler of this season yesterday afternoon in Yazoo County....Double bearded 10" and 4" beards with 1" spurs...Came in strutting and gobbling with two 2 year olds and a hen...Shot him at 25 steps with Hevi Shot #6s and he fell dead as a doornail...
I share a love for waterfowling and other hunting with the naysayers but what I get- and they dont- is that wildlife are habitat dependent and the changes brung with global warming will further endanger our waterfowling heritage but I'm sure they will have a way of rationalizing and justifying their BELIEFS relative to the SCIENCE I have offered over the last couple of weeks. They accuse us of RELIGION when in fact, I have taken NOTHING ON FAITH in this entire thread. Typical lawyer trick- accuse the innocent of that which you are guilty of. Whatever.

More propaganda from the spin doctors at Alcoa, BP, Caterpillar, Duke Engergy, Dupont, Florida Power & Light, GE, Lehman Brothers, PG&E and PNM...10 companies known for shorting their shareholders by spendng way too much money on the environment and not enough money raping and pillaging in the name of the almighty dollar...10 companies known for CEOs who work for free- no million dollar salaries, no stock options, no bonuses- so they can instead give all their money to Al Gore...10 companies who definitely need the services of PML, GG, BRHG and MD870 to straighten them out before they go broke...
These companies joined Environmental Defense, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Pew Center on Climate Change and the World Resources Institute in formign the US Climate Action Partnership and urging Congress to pass a market based cap on GHG emissions that would reduce emissions by 10%-30% over the next 15 years.
"The sooner we act, the more options we have for solutions and the less costly they will be."
Peter Darbee, CEO of Pacific Gas & Electric
Can yall believe these idiots allowed Al Gore and his witch doctors to sell them so much snake oil that they have ASKED Congress to regulate GHG emissions? Darn that Al Gore is a good salesman! Why dont we elect him President so he can sell Al Quaida and the Taliban on becoming Christians? He can sell North Korea adn Iran on droppign their nuclear weapon development programs? He can convince India and Pakistan that they should just kiss and makeup....Heck he might even be able to sell Haley Barbour on the cigarette tax increase!!!
I repeat...If you own shares in any of the 10 companies listed above, you need to take PML, GG and MD870 to the next annual meeting to straigthen them out on the GW Religion thing or the companies will go broke!
