Ha ha ha......very funny..... I've been asked to do that before and just call......declined the offer.

I don't what it is about a turkey, but when you go with someone else you both have intentions of getting a bird. I went with a buddy of mine one day and we flipped a coin to determine who would shoot.....and I won the toss. Had a tom strutting over 65 yds out.....and I heard something to my left.....seems as though my buddy had picked up his 870 and had intentions of taking a shot at the bird before I could get a clear shot at him when he got in range. So I kinda mistakenly putted several times on my mouth call and the bird hauled booty..... Needless to say, best for only one person to take the shot.

i took a youngin sat and sun..... seemed a bit early.. birds weren't responding well yet...... i was fishing today (wed) and around noon i heard one gobble .. so i took out my call and he gobbled again.... i sat on g'pa's patio for 2 hrs listening to 2 birds act a fool...... they were hot hot hot..... funny how a day or so of nice weather will affect them... i think with it being still early in the year that the birds will tend to hush aroudn 7'ish once they get henned up but if you are patient and wait till later in the day when the hens leave them there toms you'll have some luck.... between 10-2 you should be able to do something with the birds.... really felt great to watch that bird strut and gobble... even my wife got to see him...... it was killin me though....

Someone mentioned something about a bird gobbling 78 times on the roost! That's a fired up turkey! Do many people count how many times a turkey gobbles?? I might count the first ten but after that my mind is too busy trying to figure out how to work him juuuust right.

78 times is very believable. I counted over 140 one morning in MO on a bird. Finally got tired of counting. Hear 'em every year over 100 I would think.

I agree that 78 is very believeable... I just wondered how many people actually "keep count"? Maybe I have A.D.D. but I just couldn't do it, maybe when I was younger. :?: Anyway, it was a stupid question.

78 - 100 is believeable....

How many times have you heard one gobble numerous times in concession.. ie... double gobble, triple gobble.... Several years back had one gobble 13 times in a row..as fast as he could get them out... I thought he was gonna pass out... each one would get weaker than the previous...Got a witness too!

I usually don't count when I'm hunting. I counted that day cause that was the first good gobbling bird of the year.

GH22, I offered to put you on one last year. My slate is awful full this year. Check back later in the season and I might can put you on one.

Bamahunter, I cut my teeth turkey hunting in the mnts. of skyline wma. Those are some tough birds to hunt.

I was thinkin' a good decoy, put some feathers on him and have him hunch over and he'd make a great turkey decoy. :o

just got back from my honeyhole and it weren't so much of a honeyhole this mornin. heard 1 mature bird and 3 jakes were with him attempting to gobble. He shouldn't be hard to get to in the mornin and didn't appear to be henned up so we'll see what happens. I heard 5 good birds gobblin in this same place earlier this week so go figure. Haven't made it out to my other piece of property since sunday morning but heard quite a few in the river bottom of it. Should be a good season. :D

Awesome grimes!! I've been trying to tell a bunch of my Mississippi friends how much harder it is to hunt birds in the mountains and without decoys. Some agree but there are always some that think whatever area they hunt is the "hardest" place out there. Did you live up there or what? Skyline has a lot of birds these days but like most public places you gotta get out there about 3 weeks after season has started to let it clear out and settle down a bit. Only thing now that I can figure wrong with you is that you're an AUBURN fan  !! :)

i'll agree with both of yall about hunting hilly terrain anyhow, never been there so not sure what ''mountains'' y'all are talking about, but our land down here is lots of hills, BIG hills lol. ridges, bottoms, etc and it can make for some tough bird huntin, especially when they aren't talking alot

i've hunted upstate NY and Missouri.. the MS delta and the hill country.... by far the MS delta is hardest to hunt.... b/c you can't cut down the distance on the bird b/c its so flat they'll see ya easier and them dam SKEETERS SKEETERS SKEETERS!!!

Missouri and NY are both gorgeous in the spring and have lots of public land with less pressure especially NY.... the hills are your friend.. you can easily walk up on a bird therefor you need to call much less which increases your chances... in my opinion

anyone else hunted missouri ??? where.... how did you do ?

No luck !

Bird I sat up on Sun. before church, was just too easy,... I never seem to get a shot at the easy ones ! :D If there is such a thing !

Has anyone scored yet ?

Should be a good number of 2 & 3 year olds out there this year !
