not saying they are inferior, just that it doesn't justify buying a new rifle--all the deer medicine ever really needed was made in 1906, especially with today's powders, bullets, etc.
you did put in the plug, right?

I personally feel for flat out accuracy in a big load, (not that you need this for deer) with all the knock down power you could want, a good gun shooting .338 laupa is hard to beat.
At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

Bo you should scout the new Remington Short Action Ultra Mags, I have a regualar 300 Ultra Mag and its a bad ass!!!
You wish you had large woodies!!!!
