Got checked for the first time in about 5 years Sunday afternoon. I wasn't even "really" hunting. I took the pup out to the lease with a frozen wood duck to do a little real world training. Threw out 5 deeks and sat on the side of the hole throwing a half frozen duck and shooting in the air. I guess the house down the road heard me shoot a box of shells in one afternoon (after not more than 1/2 a box had been shot there all year) and called Mr. Green Jeans.

I saw him drive by and just continued to train when along came 2 common mergansers. Boom, pup got her first retrieve too.

Came out he checked me and shot the s@$! for about half an hour.

I have a great deal of respect for the men in green. Especially when they are as cool as he was.

got checked twice in teal season, and about six times in big duck season. Perfectly leagal every time, and the wardens were very nice and respectful every time. Sometimes they were very thourough, taking my boat apart to check for ducks and things of that nature, other times just checking licences and birds. Every time I thought they were just doing their job and in fact if I had been in their shoes I would have prolly checked harder than they did. I don't mind wardens at all, if you don't break the law there is nothing to fear from them. In fact they can help by keeping the riff raff out, and I told them so.

Hey teul, was it Norris or Ross? Those two usually pal around together up there. They checked me once, the day my "bud" got a ticket for no orange, among other things. Ever since then they just BS with me and give me the info on where the ducks are while I'm not around. Both of those guys are pretty good guys, unless you're gettin' a ticket  .

I didn't pay attension to his name but it was the older one that gave your bud a ticket up there. We talked about that too. Really nice guy.

He asked to see my gun and I pulled out the O/U and he just said "Nevermnd, I know you can't hold 6 in that thing".

I got checked by Dale Adams at Malmaison opening morning and I got checked this past Saturday by the Feds at Mathews Brake. Both times our party was legal (as always). Both Dale and the Fed guys were very personable and professional in checking our stuff.
