Latest update...
Tucker is out a surgery and awake. The spinal tap reveled that he had bacterial meningitis. The doctors are working up a treatment plan as we speak. Still not sure if this is going to be a temporary or life long illness.
But on the upside they have found what is causing him so much trouble. Thanks again for all the prayers and support.

I will continue to pray for your dog.
Not sure in dogs but in people meningitis while very serious is treatable and once treated is resolved and not life long. I hope the same will be true for you all.

Well we finally got some good new this morning. Tucker is on the upswing. They started him on some steroids yesterday afternoon and he has been doing much better. We called to check in last night and they were busy trying to replace the catheter that he had pulled out. This morning they said he was a completely different dog. He was up and moving wanting attention and loving. When they let him outside she said we was running around. His neck is still a bit stiff but they are hopeful that it will clear up within the day. Thanks for everyone's support. Figure I'll give him a break for a little while but I am thankful that my hunting bubby and our companion will be coming home soon!
Thanks again to everyone!!

Well we were able to pick up Tucker on Saturday evening after we went a visited with the doctors for a few hours. They brought us in to take about his "condition" and just get us up to speed on what to expect. Turns out they diagnosed him with "steroid responsive non-viral meningitis arthritis without arthritis symptoms". My take was they were not really sure what to call it so his symptoms and the test results matched the diagnoses the best. He has been doped up on some SERIOUS pain meds along with steroids and antibiotics. I keep telling my self that he is better but he is still only about 30% the dog he was. We finished up his pain meds yesterday so I am hoping that the drowsiness of that medication will wear off and he will be a bit more active. We have a follow up on Tuesday so the can rerun his blood work to see what his white blood cell and neutrophil counts look like.
I am so glad that he is home I just hope he can finish out the battle and be the dog he was before the sickness!
Thanks again!

Hang in there Matt. The Lord works in mysterious ways. We're all pulling for Sir Tucker. You know how to reach me if you need anything. Keep your head up and faith strong.

Turns out the examine on Tuesday was only a physical exam. They gave him a look over and said he looked better but also looked as if he was in pain (which I didn't see). So they put him on a few different pain meds that has knocked his activity level down a bit from what it was on Monday and Tuesday when he wasn't on them. Also redosed him with antibiotics and steroids to get us through next Thursday at which point we go back for a CBC test which we should know the results in a few hours.
He seems to be doing much better but it is hard to tell with him being on the pain meds. I let him out this morning from the crate and he was ready to go. He even ran to the bed room and jumped on the bed to see my wife. I gave him his meds about 30 mins later and within the hour he had crashed. Doc seems to think he could possibly get of the medication at some point down the road but also said there was a possibility he could be on a small dose of steroids from here on out.
We are just playing the waiting game at the moment. Hoping the meds are doing there thing so good news will come on next Thursday.

If he's running around jumping on the bed, looking for ya'll, etc. he's not in pain. When they are, they lie still, or hide under some furniture. Maybe the pain is going away is a sign he is getting much better.
