i have been to grace a few times, really enjoy it. my other recommendation would be http://www.adaton.org/
as far as food goes: oby's, cappe's, grumpy's, dave's, the little dooey, and umi are my favorites.

Stromboli's on University Street is the BEST hole in the wall pizza and calzones you will EVER eat. hands down. And they have PBR.
Little know Chinese place is Jean's, across the street from the bright blue building on University and behind Rock Bottom. Just be prepared for Jean to guilt you into ordering her cheese wantons... that are totally worth it.
The Grill on Montgomery Street is one of my favorites.
Starkville Young Professionals might be something you want to check out too - I'm pretty sure they have a group Facebook if you want to find meeting times.
If you are looking for a gym, the Sanderson takes "non-students" but there are other gyms in town.

Jean is one annoying lady I can't take going in there, hell she made one of my buddies give her a dollar because he paid for his food with a debit card, she said it cost to much for her to run it so give her another dollar bill, great buisness woman there.
