update: i was at my mom's last night and found an old scrap peice of granite from when they had their countertops redone after katrina. it's the right size but its rough around the edges so i need to get it cut to have straight edges. now my question is how do i attach it to the vanity? do you just glue granite???

yep, put some adhesive down and lay it on top. the weight of itself will hold it in place.
