Good idea but the questions are...

Where?

When?

I'm sure I can find the geese and the land to hunt them if you fellas can provide the dekes.

I saw over 1,500 snows and specks in two different fields up around Rolling Fork and Mayersville. One of the fields was right on the edge of town, next to the school. Man, there were a lot of birds. More and more just kept pourin' in. I would have loved to been out there in my layout blind waitin' on 'em.

Wingman,

Are you going to be guiding during the conservation order season? I know the MDWFP site gives the dates but your web site still shows the season as "pending." That might be the best time if the geese are still around. (Unless of couse everyone want a shot at specks and canadas too.) The Conservation order dates are at: The Link

I would be in for a snow goose hunt. I don't have any hard decoy but do have 100 rag decoys.

Probably won't be doing any guiding then because I'll be busy with training for my new job. Yes, I haven't ammended the website. After about the middle of February, the geese start leaving my area. Sure would be fun to try them over e-callers, though.

I would recommend "get'em while the get'ens good." The winds turn out of the south and the days start warming up in February causing the geese to leave. I would bet you would have better luck now than you would after duck season.

I just had about 10 thousand of them come over the house at 5pm.

They are working 3 different rice fields during the day, kinda hard to figure out a pattern on them now.

They seem to be working the same general areas. Looks like they like to go for a little fly around about 9ish. Lots of red legs mixed in the groups ive been seeing. Saw an eagle head in the bunch that had a green coller around his neck, would make a fine conversation piece. They dont give much chance as they come straight down and go straight up. 8)
