I read the story about you and your wife's hunt. Very nice, I just wanted to say that it has been a real privilege to have meet you. After reading the beginning of this post I am truly glad there are a few left that see ducking as it should be seen and not just a blood sport.
Thanks and good hunting.
I'll be calling you this season to help me take some of these mean booty mallet heads out of my pothole.

I was referring to the recent issue that told exactly where Malmasion was and named the Scat and other spots, even the location of the boat ramps. I mean geez, why don't we just throw in a topo that says X marks the spot!

If some of you guys that hunt public land and want to join a club that is set up where 2 or 3 guys that like to hunt together can afford to hunt. e-mail me!!
The club is mostly land formed property with some duck holes where we hunt standing in tree lines. Rice and bean fields. 18 duck holes in the club.
The club is in Tunica and Quitman Counties.

Look Anatidae I hunted the scatters probably longer than anyone on this site and I've watched it go to crap because of people runin their mouth but I didn't cry about it. I remember when there would be my truck and about three others at the boat ramp now there is about 40 trucks there everyday and all I do is ride by and laugh and am glad I'm not out there.
You talk about a duck hunting fraternity
well heck I was talking to a guy I was showing a duckhole to about the same fraternity and he said he was there with us ;but then an hour later he said he had never killed a limit of ducks. So fraternity I think not; anybody out there with a duck call says there in your little frat. what you need to look out for is what happened to Arkansas about 10 years ago it was the same thing. all this means is the words out and MS has good public hunting . So if you hunt it you have to deal with the public SO DEAL WITH IT . Or do like me and the other 90% of the duckhunters and spend some money and get a place to hunt.
Duckhunting pays my bills so whoever wants to join the fraternity come on. BUT ONE THING YOU GOT TO REMEMBER IS DUCKHUNTING AINT CHEAP Anatidae I'm not putting down what you wrote all I'm saying is that MS's duckhunting is going to commercialize just like AR. so you better go on and find you a spot.
I'll write about the scatters and matthews brake all I want because I don't hunt there any more. Because I got crowded out before I thought about getting a computer.
Don't confuse me with Benny I don't want to argue with anyone but what happens, happens and we can't help it. Sooner or later somebody is going to find out where to hunt. If we say it on here or if they read it in a magazine. Or if they watch it on a INDIAN ARCHERY VIDIEO ( all advertised public land). Duckhunters will find ducks.
thanks JESSE
P.S. the scatters good place's to hunt- the point, second cut, east lake, donnut hole, splash break, stumphole, Olans hole and my hole.

Yall better listen to old Anatidae. Last year Bluesky and I were discussing a "new" place that we were both going to hunt and lo and behold- opening morning was comical. My hunting party and I were set up at 5:30 when folks started coming in that didn't have a clue where to set up. When shooting time came they were wandering around picking out where to hunt, throwing dekes everywhere, and skybusting anything with feathers. It took us bout 30 minutes of that we packed up and left. One guy we talked to was standing on a levy because he did not have any waders and had never duck hunted before.
No matter how innocent your post may be, there are people looking for any inkling of a duck hole.

4-Eyed Gadwall, why did you leave out the best hole in the scatters, the Miller Hole??? Sorry guys, it's on the private side of the scatters now.

Better than that Anatidae e-mail me and I will give you my phone# and I'll take you on a good bayou river outfitters hunt for free; just to make it up to you I'm sure will have our fair share of ducks before you go and hunt La.
I'm a pretty nice guy just ask Micah and when I posted that I had been off in the Dickel kinda hard. So I apologize.

It is safe to assume that many people will look for shortcuts in anything to which they are not fully dedicated. The same will apply to duck hunting. The dedicated hunter will take the time to find the best spots and guard the location. The casual hunter will ask where to hunt and look to others for shortcuts. Giving this advice does no good for either party. If you are serious about hunting, you should make the commitment of time and effort to find the most productive location at your disposal. Personally, I use satmaps, topos and sometimes just dead reckoning to locate a potentially good spot. Then I "go to ground" and scout the area on foot, making detailed observations about my surroundings so that I don't have to resort to flagging tape (which just advertises my spot to the lazy). Going the extra mile to find a "honey hole" makes the entire process more rewarding. Therefore, I concur with the original post and say... loose lips sink ships.

Anatidae,
Glad to be back. Thanks for the warm welcome. With the season looming large on the near horizon, I can't help but return to waterfowling sites such as this one. I guess that is my personal, seasonal migration.
I hope you have a great and productive season. I look forward to reading more of your comments as the Winter forges on.

If you are refering to my general question about Malmaison or Okeefe, my question was honest and straight forward. I have hunted private property near both for over 35 years, possibly more years than you are old. I have never hunted either public place and wondered if I might try them on an off day mid week. I pay the taxes and fees that support them, so why should I not take advantage of them if worth while. I DID UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE PUBLIC, NOT PRIVATE.
I have enough trespassers on my private land, possibly I should try a public land. I am not asking for the combination to your safety deposit box, simply where you bank and if you like it!

No, Bear.....like I said, if I have something to say in response to a 'questionable' post, I'll do so, via e-mail.....directly to THAT individual.
I don't object to someone 'asking'....as much as I detest 'answering' over the forum, where everyone can view the same info. People on opposite ends of the question are likely, strangers....which leads me to wonder why folks are SO eager to divulge info (specific details) where ANYBODY (including a multitude of folks you might not choose to hunt with) can access the same.
Public land SHOULD be accessible to the public, but only to that portion of the public that are willing to go through the a certain amount of trouble......'makes 'em appreciate what a little discretion will do to avoid over-crowding. Uh, what's 'at mean? If you have to ask, then I'm talkin' to YOU!
Personally, I prefer the feeling of having the whole place to myself, but realize at times, it's not all MINE and I must share my days afield with others.....hopefully of like mind.
I have already contacted the author of a post that prompted this discussion. He graciously considered my comments and edited his post. 'Never occurred to him that he might affect someone else's chances of a pleasant day afield. It's all a matter of how considerate we are, of our fellow waterfowlers......something that is rarely reciprocated, these days. Thanks for your comments....Happy Hunting By the way....I'm 47.

Nice post, 'Professor'.....'glad to see you are still around.....and ,as always,'dedicated' to the sport.
No apology needed, 4I'dG-wall......I've become pretty thick-skinned and realize everyone's viewpoint may not coincide with mine. I get pretty animated at times, too. Duh, Ya THINK?
I agree, if you are going to hunt public land, you WILL have to 'adapt' to a multitude of unpleasant 'variables'. That's just part of it, but that's not what you started-out, saying. I too, will hunt on private land, this year, but I will not betray the trust of fellow waterfowlers that hunt the same areas I use to, by divulging 'details'.
I, from time to time, share information.....but it is ALWAYS in strict confidence (and never specific in nature)....with people I KNOW I can trust (and a three-toed sloth can count them on one hand). I never divulge anything that would diminish my own chances for a successful, non-confrontational hunting experience, or add to the already hopeless over-crowding that manifests itself in an over-inflated ego. This may be a loosing battle in the end, but I've never been one to roll over a let the status quo thwart my attempts to curb a growing problem.
I will hunt public land sometime, this year (even though I have a private lease)....'cause I like variety. There are some wonderful memories that surface evertime I ride by THAT 'clump' of grass or high-center THAT 'stump' or smell the 'muck'. I'm not willing to give those things up.....nor will I ever be. Neither should those that realize how lucky they are to have a place that hasn't been ruined by a hapless nerd. Life is short.....smell the 'muck'!
Thanks for the reply and the invitation......Good luck, this season.
