3.5's w/ a pair of fleece waderpants will work fine for me down to about 15 degrees
I sweat like a whore in confession in 5mms not matter how cold it is

I have both. I don't wear the 5mm pair unless it's real cold and I'm not walking anywhere. They're way too hot. I hunted several days this year when the temperature was in the teens. The 5mm's didn't make it out of the basement all year. 3.5's were fine.
3.5's are plenty durable. They'll tear if you hit something right but if you're careful and/or lucky they'll last fine.

Go commando in 5mm waders to cut back on body heat. The Coleman camping website has really cheap prices on hunting waders, for those who buy cheap equipment.

I bucket of brown latex and a kiddie pool is all you need. screw waders.

I will never own another pair of 5mm I had a
pair of hodmans one year and I lost about ten
pounds that year wearing those things
