What kinda decoys should I get?, mallard, pintail, or a couple different ones?

I would go with mallards, you could get a half dozen pintails for visability.

one money saving thing I've learned when it comes to clothing is to buy only the exterior stuff like coat, waders and bibs in camo. Also buy those things in a pattern that isn't real terrain specific. The rest of the stuff I buy are things that can be worn all winter long out to dinner or whatever like carhartts and solid color fleeces(obviously as long as they are "earthy" colors). This also cuts down on how much you have to pack for out of town trips even if you plan on doing things other than hunt. But, this is only useful if you aren't one of those guys that wears your camo just to go shopping at Bass Pro in August.

-Call- Haydels, but get a whistle if you are not comfortable quacking.
-Comfortable waders
-A jacket that fits
-A shell bag that doesnt spill your shells
-Gloves and a back up pair of gloves
-Your friends boat
-3 dozen decoys, don't get the ghg hot buy bag, it will not last one season, especially if you have pintails or mallard decoys with open tail feathers.
-Your friends dog, but if you do get a dog, train for obedience and manners first. Don't name it Drake, Suzie, Remington, or Bear.
-A facemask or face paint and "Be Still Damn It". It doesn't matter what you have if you move around like you just sat on a pile of fireants.
-A camera to take photos of the great time you just had even if your buddy claims he shot the banded Pintail.
-Don't be to proud to take the ever elusive Great Norther Shoveler. They need lovin' too.

Most important- Have fun, Enjoy, Don't take it to seriosly. This is a passion and obsession for many of us, but when we are not having fun because there are no ducks or because something is not perfect, then it is time to refocus. You will know what im talking about.
