johnboy, i dont guess you will ever shoot Kent again. it might be your gun. you know i get my Kent's just as wet (moisture for weeks at a time) as yours and I have never had one backfire. might just be the Nova (dang sweet gun)

What is the best waders for your money? I have duck hunted times before but I am trying to get better equipment this year since I am hunting in better places than past years. What brand, thickness, insulation, material, etc. is the best to your knowledge?

It is in Bastrop,LA and not a bad drive from Jackson. It has everything for deer hunting and everything plus some more for duck hunting. I like them better than Bass Pro Shops.

Thank you to Anatidae for all of his helpful "knowlwdge." We actually have a real joker on this site. Anatidae, do you think that it is possible for someone to give their opinion on a topic (and further inform viewers of their own experiences) without a "wise-A**" like you having a case of diarrhea of the mouth? No, I guess that would be asking too much. Seems to me like you have nothing better to do than critique posts all day long! So, let's recap some of the comments Anatidae previously made:
1. "Yep....spoken like a bona-fide 'skybuster.'"-->Now, where do you get out of my comment that I am a skybuster? Seems to me that if I were a skybuster, I would probably have told everyone that I prefer BBB. Further, does the word "sky" necessarily mean the same as "atmosphere?"

2. "However, the brand you shoot out of your SBE seems very important to me." --> for Antidae's clarification, there are more ways than one to interprete this. I'll let you critique this for a while.

3. "Well, Duh!.....just how long did it take you to figure out that you don't really need to let your shells get wet, buddy?"--> Think about this "BUDDY":Is it not possible for your shells to get wet and you not realize, and then later look back remember that they got wet the previous hunt? Further, remember that we are talking about duck hunting (WATER INCLUDED!!) and that it is not always easy to keep you shells dry all of the time. I'm not sure if you do this(but probably so), but I do not go home after every hunt and wipe all my shells down with a nice dry rag. I have more important things to do with my time. Oh, and yes, I realize that it is best not to get your shells wet, but why should you worry whether or not they get wet if you're shooting Dry-Loks. If you are doing so, it doesn't matter--they shoot even if they have been soaked!

4. "Well, apparently you either haven't been duck hunting that long (Dry-loks came out in what...'95, '96?) or don't shoot many shells... because if you HAD, you would have an occasional mis-fire... just the law of averages." --> this statement made by Anatidae has to be the most absurd statement I have heard in at leat 3 years. Hmm, I have now been duck hunting for about 7 or 8 years, and probably have shot well over 100 boxes of Dry-loks, and still no misfire (unrelated to miosture, gun malfunction, or operator error, etc.). Does "of all the years" means 80 years, or can it just mean 7 or 8 years? Is is not possible(however remote) that I have never had a misfire? I think that it is possible! And yes, it may happen to me eventually, but the fact still remains that I haven't had it happen YET! So, the next time you want to write a STATEMENT and let everyone know that 1) either I haven't been hunting very long or 2) I don't shoot very much, take into account the fact that, however remote, it is possible that I am not a rookie and it just might not have happened to me!

Oh, I am glad you don't soak your shells in a tub of water (any reasonable reader would have taken my comment as a mere "figure of speech" and not as a fact), and I am also glad that you also shoot the same shells. However, it doesn't take me using the "law of averages" to comprehend that the Dry-Lok is a far superior shell than Kent.

David......I saw some 3" Remington T's in Wal-Mart, today (while I was trying to decide what I'm going to shoot this year)........'has 68 pellets in each shell. That might break those teal down, huh?

Well for my two cents, shoot what your gun likes! My gun likes 3.5" Drylok BB's...so that's what I shoot. Your gun might like 'em it might not, if you can, try to pattern some loads, you'll be surprised what you find out.

Randy, I think I'm gonna try to load some Hevi-shot F's this year, I oughta be able to take 'em out to 75 yards, whaddya think...I'll call'em the "Martian Death Ray" shells heheee ... (for those that are a little more tightly wound this is a joke)

I would pattern my gun if I were you. When I started I tried 3 brands and shot size from T to #3 and Kent #3 3.5" patterned the best in my gun. The Drylock BB's were the worst, very few pellets on paper. I also tried all chokes and the Modified with the Kents was the best by far. Not trying to sell them to you, just giving you my experience. I would love to try the Hevi-Shot but just can't make myself pay that yet.

I started out last year with Hevy shot that stuff works real good pattern better than lead and has the same knock down. Works great for me as it turned out I had more shells left over at the end of the season. I now use the steel for criple killers. :wink:

I've given up on Kent shells for various reasons. I guess I'll go back to Drylock's or Federals.

Anyone tried any of these new Federal's? I can't find any deals on a case here in Memphrica...I don't want to mail order again this year.

Gordon....can you get that in a 'AA' hull?
