the first guy i ever caught i had actually started hunting him after he killed the buck i was after. i had seen a few trees that had been climbed( differant marks from anyones stands that hunted our places) then one afternoon, i noticed a fairly fresh blood trail while walking in, i follwed it till just before dark when i found the buck i had chased all bow season(he had been gut shot), the next day i back tracked the trail too where he was shot found the tree the guy climbed, it was 300 yrds from the property line. i was determinded to catch this SOB if it took all season. it was the week after christmas, i had been sitting on a ridge for a few hrs listening for anything that sounded like a human in our woods, when all of a sudden about 500 yrds away i heard two shots, i took off after the sound, when i got fairly close, i started glassing, took me about five min, i spotted the guy about 20 ft up a poplar was this guy looking around. i eased over the back side of the ridge and slipped around behind the guy. i got within 50 yrds unnoticed still not believing the guy had not gotten down yet (guess he was getting greedy). i hollared at him and told him to lower his rifle, jacket and coveralls to the ground. his rifle started swinging wildly as he was trying to figure out where i was, i told him that if he fired a shot, i was gonna put one through his skull, at that point he took his jacket, and coveralls off and dropped them to the ground the jacket had a 9mm berretta. he then lowered his rifle. once his rifle was on the ground, i broke from cover and cut the rope and unloaded his rifle. once he was on the ground i tossed him the zip tiesand told him to put them on his hands, i made him go get his deer and made him drag (at gun point) the unfield dressed deer back to my fourwheeler 5-6 hundred yrds, i did let him use a saftey harness as a drag. once he got it there he loaded it on,after the drag, the guy was at the point of collapse, thats when i made him lay down on the deer, i ran the does head though his arms, took the does rear legs and zip tied them too to his leg and took a ratchet strap to make sure they didn't fall off on the ride back to the barn. called the GW and told him i had him a belated Christmas present he was waiting at the barn when i drove up and couldn't quit laughing the whole time he was writing the guys tickets out, and now that i think about it i think my dad signed an affidavit.

as a side note, the guy got a ticket for trespassing, poaching, hunting without hunters orange, and after an investigation, they also charged him with burglery, and possesion of stolen property, apparently the four wheeler he had and both guns were hot.

the next guy i caught had apperently heard the story, cuz when i tossed him the zippties and told him to put them on, he started crying and said you not gonna strap me to that deer nakeed are you

Your just a regular ole CSI...huh? Quite a funny story, if it were true, but we are going to need some evidence on that one. Come on, if you were that good the Feds would be all about hiring you, and that pays waaaay better than the Orkin Man. I'm Calling B.S.

That was a d!ck thing to say....esp for a first post.

Yeah,

I believe that he never grew out of his "Tall Tale" telling stage when he was a little boy, cause 90% of what comes out of his mouth would take some effort to even come up with.

and to the rest of you, thanks, writing it down was way more fun than actually doing it, by the time i got that guy to the four wheeler, my hands were shaking so bad its a miracle i could still hold the gun.

Yeah, writing it down was way more fun, because that is the only way it would ever happen, in your Fictional "Make Believe" world. I have heard plenty of your other outlandish stories, to know that this one is right up there at the top of the list.

All you have to do is admit you have a problem, that's the first step, then you can go to story telling rehab, and get better.

We are all here for you, you don't have to do this just to be cool, you can be cool without telling these crazy stories you call reality!

Wow, what is it with all the newbies firing with both barrels on their first few posts?

Calm down, boys, and take a chill pill! I don't know if the story is true, but it sure is a good one.

arduckslayer, I bet there are quite a few folks who carry zip ties with them when they hunt. I know I do since they have saved the day on a number of occasions over the years. Having confronted trespassers on our property on several occasions over the years, I can attest to how the confrontation, even if not hostile, can be a huge adrenaline rush and down-right scary. If I were back in the woods and ran across a guy who had just poached a deer, was trespassing, was found to have a pistol in his jacket, and was apparently poaching on my place on a regular basis, I guarantee you that zip-tying this guy and keeping him secure would be the first order of business. Even if a guy is unarmed, a lot can happen with an unrestrained man before you can get him to the law.

Kimbrough,

No need in PMing back and forth, I don't mind telling you who I am, my name is John Rackley, I was in school with you at MSU, I was a year behind you in Forestry. Believe me, this ain't the first tall tale I have heard of yours.

well john, your name doesn't ring a bell, i doubt if i ever shared a camp fire with you, but if you refer to the tall tales told at forestry club or at the bars, WTF did you expect to hear when a bunch of forestry majors get together and drink, everything spilled there had and element of truth, but that was all the truth told at those meetings/ get togethers, as far as any true knowledge about me, i doubt you have much.
but if you have a more personal beef with me, this is not the place to do it, i will be down on my place Sunday after Christmas, you are welcome to come by(if you know me half as good as you say you do, you know where it is) and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee like real grown ups, but this is as far as it goes on here.

have a merry Christmas
