And those 15 mallards that I saw going 80mph at Moorhead --- turned out to be 3 mallards, 6 spoonies and 6 teal on a stopped inspection. Came back by this afternoon and about 20 teal and 3 mallards. Mallards usually start showing up the 1st of Nov.

Stopped at wapanoca refuge sat pm.... in turell ark and where most of the ducks in my area call home. Water is as high as i have seen in my adult life... maybe 4k ducks, mainly $#!+ on the main lake. very few ducks that quack or make noise... the little slash on the back side we drive thru and run em up out of the buckbrush had maybe 75 ducks on it... was hopin to see the usuall 10k on the main lake, and 3k on the slash. Nary a goose seen sat pm, or half a day sunday where we where at farm, but thats not unusual... they get on the other side of the ridge before they get to me. No snipe, we brought some arms in case they where there for the opener, but nary a snipe seen. Never seen as much water in october, thats for sure. gonna be a weird season, but fun no matter what. travis

Man I can't wait to hunt Alabama, the flyway has just shifted and all the ducks are over there! Everyone who wants to see or kill any ducks will be hunting in Alabama and the with that amount of pressure they might all migrate to Georgia so be prepared to head east to kill birds.

Bowhunted island in MS River near Natchez last week- Jumped 3 mallards in one backwater and 2 gads in another- Lots of woodies in flooded woods on island and in brakes at duck club near Satartia- Still mighty darn hot- Going up to Central Illinois next week for duck and pheasant- Hoping for cooler weather and plentiful birds.
