anyway, since you asked here goes:

"War Eagle" is Auburn's battle cry (not a mascot or nickname)
The story about the battle cry dates back to the first time Auburn met Georgia on the football field in 1892 and centers around a spectator who was a veteran of the Civil War.

In the stands with him that day was an eagle the old soldier had found on a battlefield during the war. He had kept it as a pet for almost 30 years. According to witnesses, the eagle suddenly broke free and began majestically circling the playing field. As the eagle soared, Auburn began a steady march toward the Georgia end zone for a thrilling victory. Elated at their team's play and taking the bird's presence as an omen of success, Auburn students and fans began to yell "War Eagle" to spur on their team. At the game's end, the eagle took a sudden dive, crashed into the ground, and died. But the battle cry "War Eagle" lived on to become a symbol of the proud Auburn spirit.

There are two words that give you a sense of belonging even when you are far from home. And when you hear them, you know you’re with family: “War Eagle.” For hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, Auburn is family.

If you have never witnessed the pre-game flight of the eagle, you have missed out on one of the most iconic moments in college football!

Well, once in a game there was a Civil War veteran that was there with his wife of almost 30 years. Legend states that during the game, she broke free and started to run away from him.....at the same time MSU made an epic drive and missed a field goal to lose the game.....however, the man had to get out his cowbell to get his woman to come running back to him thinking it was time to eat.......so it just kinda stuck..........an MSU fan can be hundreds of miles from home and hear a cowbell and know that they are among like minded folks or animals..........kinda brings a tear to my eye just recalling this tremendous story..........

Yes I'm the DA that doesn't understand the betting line, I never paid attention to it before but given the last 2 meetings I thought it was high. I've asked a few people about WDE and never got an answer, thanks though. I'm pretty sure a cow walked out onto Scott field during a State Ole miss game and state won, so after that people started ringing them. Bigwater is the MSU history buff
