Then field testers for Browning had the maxus this past hunting season sir. Browning owns both. The SX-3 was such a big hit with the the hunters they decided to put thier own name on one. Same gun except for the few signature features of Browning.

I compared the SX3 and the Maxus yesterday....yes, they are on the dealers shelves now. Just loved the drop on both....ended up taking home the Maxus and really was a tough choice. I doubt a novice like me could really tell the difference in the kick between the two, but with a strap, you could carry the Maxus around all day long and never know it. I will shoot a couple of boxes at clays later on today and will have more of an opinion then, but just the few times I shot it, I was impressed with the lack of kick in a gun that is so light. Shot a few light loads and heavy loads and it cycled great. A couple of features worth mentioning is it can be taken apart in the field is seconds and the "plug" has really improved, although you better keep up with it because you sure can't make one out of a stick anymore.

Very, very impressed with the Maxus....shot 3 boxes of heavyloads and not even the slightest tenderness in my shoulder which is impressive since I bruise easily. Browning really hyped this gun but like Dizzy Dean said, "It ain't bragging if you can back it up". My first day with it and I was blasting the clays....helps when you don't have your eyes closed when you pull the trigger. They kept what works over the years...speed loading/unloading is what I had forgotten about with my other guns...and tamed the kick while making it incredibly lightweight. So far, so good!

Not tring to highjack the thread but why does Browning get a bad rep about duck guns? What I mean is everytime one non Browning owner says they suck, there are plenty of Browning owners that come back saying they have no problems and would buy another one. How does that not reverse the negative stigma?
I've shot a Browning Gold for 8 years, guy I hunted with a good bit in college had a SX2 and we never had issues. Everyone else we shot with had Benellis and Berettas, but no gun stood out as having more problems than the others. Seemed more like a decision of preference than quality.

Just go talk with several gunsmiths before you buy your next gun. They can tell you about quality... and they do not have a dog in the hunt....

You mean except for the gunsmiths that have 20 brand new SBEIIs behind the counter? That made me believe alot of them did have a dog in the fight. So is it mostly a difference in the gas system that makes the gun shoot "dirty"? If thats the case then I can see the point if you hate cleaning it, but I would sure hate replacing recoil springs too.

I've got or had one of nearly everything.

As far reliability goes. Keep in mind....I keep my guns clean. Clean after every use. My Gold Hunter has been what I would consider reliable.

I have had more trouble out of my SBE. Had to replace a Recoil Spring but works better now.

Got my Maxus yesterday and hope to do some skeet shooting with it this weekend

Ive got a number of brownings, all o/u. Superposed and Citori. Look like quality guns to me. There are always bad apples thou. I have seen an SBE throw a rod in the blind before. I mean, it chunked a part out like an ejected shell.

see i thought it was gonna look kinda weird myself but actually reminds me alot of the old A5's.... i like it so far just gotta get out and shoot it. Man is it ever light weight
