Great performance.
I agree. I feel like he brought a lot of that on himself.

This gentleman (and I use that term deliberately) has class. Not in the way you or some others might define it, but certainly the way I do. While listening to the judges questions and snickers of the crowd, he sat there, smiled politely, answered honestly and was courteous in every way. He then proceeded to knock their socks off with his singing.
It just hits close to home for me. I have a nice southern draw and a lot of people (none southerners) don't take people with a southern draw seriously. Many occasions in the golf business I have worked with people from all over the country and you'd be amazed how different the treatment can be from just an accent. Bosses from Ohio and Illinois and Pennsylvania have basically left me to garbage duty and away from the customer service because my draw. Its out there and Kevin Skinner faced the music and won.

drawl...you may have a nice southern draw, too, but the word you were looking for there was drawl

I know what you mean, and I understand, but, I have learned in my experience dealing with people from all over the world, you have to show some class, particularly on National TV...but at the same time, there's a lot to be said for just being yourself. It does piss me off sometimes when people say to me, "You're a pretty smart guy, especially for someone from Mississippi."....Im like, WTF?

That pretty sums up my time with the CO Div. of Wildlife. Though I finished their interview process first out of 180 people, I caught crap from day one, until I eventually just left. My supervisors never took me serious, despite being the top recruit, winning the "top skills" award at the police academy, and getting top scores from every veteran officer (including the reigning officer of the year) that I worked with. It made me sick.

The SOB was out of place, I did not see one person in that crowd singing along to GB. I bet they thought it had just came out.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, a black man and a white southern man have one main thing in common...we are both the most stereotyped individuals in the country.
