i thought it was a swan.. i just thought most of the swans shot were the big white'uns..

shot it near palimco sound? n.c.? i'm guessing..

i think anatidate use to talk about a black swan that would visit his spread over on un-named location...

Actually it's not what you shoot them with, but where you shoot them. All the Black Swans we shot in New Zealand were killed with 6's and 7 1/2's. Ther long neck and head is very vunerable. We shot a very high average on them as well.

Prediction: the global warming thread will finally be knocked from its artificially-inflated perch of longest running thread when this one runs its course.

The bird diversity represented in 700+ mounts, not just representative species, but hybrids and various and assorted mutations is in and of itself and incredible achievement, but the full collection consisting of photographs, calls, shotgun shells, pins, clothes, decoys (including a pair of extremely rare, incredibly valuable, Double R Decoy cork mallards 8) ), magazines, bands, collars, boats, signs, paddles, prints, the habitat elements such as seashells and glass bouys, even the wood used for many of the frames - not to mention the people, the times and the stories that it all represents - puts everything in its fullest, and finest context. I've been in there maybe a hundred times over the past decade and notice something new everytime single time. If you've ever walked through the Smithsonian Science Museum and tried to see everything, you know exactly what I mean.

I first saw "The Waterfowlers" room on the fuge, and as the post took off I kept an eager eye on that topic.

It was several years back, when I first saw the pic's, and it's a goal of mine to at least walk through the place. Unbelievable, I couldn't even dream of the hunts, stories, and memories with each mount/pic, but one day I hope to get up there and hear a tale or two.

Keep on posting those pics for all of us to drool over LOL, great work!

I'm humbled by all the interest in this and guess I take what I have a little too much for granted. I appreciate the comments and by no means am bragging about anything. I've been blessed with friends, opportunities and the passion that I've maintained to this day for not just the hunt but for the memories and friends past and present. I got started in the days of no internet and thing were much close knit then but cyberspace has opened a whole new avenue for us now. The only waqy to make friend is to meet new people and I welcome a visit most anytime, except during turkey and duck season :D when I'm in the woods or at the LLDC.

Let me know any interests you might have and I'll see what I can come up with.

"Dat's the shootenist gent'man I ever seen!!"

I got an interest...to take about ten thousand pics in that room and hear most, if not all of the stories that go with what's in that room.

Got about two- four years of your time to spare?
