I wish I could have seen him run at West Mississippi, sorry for your loss. not that it makes anything better but at least you had a chance to say good by.

I am moved to tears. Truely an outstanding dog.

Thank you Gumbo for your gift to me of your offspring....

I can't exactly remember, but I think Maya honored Gumbo on his 1,000 point run. (I know it was right about that time, at Amite's test). One of those goosebumpy moments.

Thoughts and prayers from Kevin, GRHRCH UH Maya (Gumbo daughter) and Guinness (Gumbo grandson)

I had the privelege to train with Chuck and Gumbo hundreds of times. He was as consistent as any dog I've ever been around. In case you don't know, he passed 49 straight finished tests. He was a joy to watch with lots of style even three weeks ago at West MS. You would have never known he had cancer. He'll be missed by all of us especially Team Chumac.

GRHRCH Cenac's Hot and Spicy Gumbo, MH
12/17/98 - 03/16/09

It seems like only yesterday that Louis Cenac approached me about who he should get to train his new puppy. Seems he had done his homework and purchased the best bred chocolate dog he could find out of NFC Storm's Riptide Star and FC-AFC Gator Points Sweet Potato Pie. I gave him the names of several bigtime pros. Surprisingly he asked if I would train him. I was just beginning to train dogs professionally and was ecstatic that I would be able to see how far we could take him.

Gumbo was an exceptionally fast learner and at 14 months old he received his HRCH and he entered the Mossy Oak Grand as the youngest entrant. We made an early exit, but he was pretty impressive all the same. He was always the dog I showed off to my newest clients. Super obedient, tons of style.....He was one of the nicest chocolates I ever saw....

3 grand passes, 1000 Points, 49 consecutive finished passes....Passes under myself, Ron Anderson, Jason Moore, Dad, Jimmy Hubbard. He would run for anyone.

When I found out he was sick, I felt like I should enter him one last time at West MS HRC 3 weeks ago. I didn't care if he picked up only one duck, as long as he was doing what he enjoyed. He passed both days without handling on a mark and lining both water blinds. Thanks to the judges and everyone else there for their kind words that weekend.

Yesterday the cancer became too much. As I waited in the Vet's office all these memories came back to me and I realized without him I may not be a dog trainer today. He taught me much more than I ever taught him.

Thanks for the memories Gumbo.

Chuck

Thank you everyone for your kind words....They are greatly appreciated
