Sunday morning, 18 lbs, 9 inch beard, 7/8 spurs.
Started off listening on some lease land. No gobbles. Went to my land about 4 miles from the lease at about 7:15. Walked down a logging road and called a couple of times and heard nothing. Got to a point where the road enters a small plot at a 90 degree turn and stopped before I made the turn and yelped soft. He gobbled from around the corner at what sounded to be about 75 yards. I have always considered corners to be great setups because they usually will have to round it out of curiousity to see the hen thats calling. I set up on a white oak about 10 feet back off the road and called soflty again. No gobble but I could make out glimpses of him coming looking through some privot hedge. He rounded the corner with his neck stretched out looking at 18 yards and I fed him a load of 3" Hevi-13 6's. Back at the truck at 7:40.

Monday afternoon....bird double gobbled and triple gobbled one time....called him in to about 65 yards that morning but couldn't get him any closer....broke out the old new england 10 that afternoon and called him, a jake, and ten hens up all between 15 and 60 yards.....a fourwheeler started getting close and they all started getting spooky.....he hit a opening in the hollow at about 50 steps and I poured it to him... Federal #4's through the g-thunder in the 10 gauge was too much for him.....and that's the last bird I have heard since then...
Tried to post pics but it's saying bump is not allowed...what is that about?

Extremely fun hunt Sunday. Saw three strutters and 6 hens so we managed to work around on them and get set up on the edge of the thick stuff. I knew my chances were not good with those 6 hens. Started calling pretty aggressive and managed to get those hens cranked up. They came in our lap pissed off. Hens walked by us at 10 yards and the long beards were right behind them at 15 when they died. Was rather exciting.. #2 on the year 15.2 lbs 10 3/4" 1 1/8"

This ole boy gave me the slip with some hens on Saturday morning, I roosted him Sat evening (flew up with no hens in sight) and pulled the trigger at 7:15 Saunday morning.

Killed my first Sat. afternoon at 4, 10" beard 3/4 and7/8 spurs 18 lbs.

Got my first of the season this morning.
20 lbs 7 oz, spurs @ 1" I'll measure them when I clean him at lunch.
He had 2 beards but unfortunately I shot them off!!
I'm going to try to estimate the length of what I was able to pickup plus what remained attached at lunch. I'll take a few more pics then too.
