Im a +1 with Mudsucker - Rory did us good last March when bite was off. Also put us on big reds and big sheephead (which apparently many people do not consider a trashfish). We actually booked with www.fishwiththeking.com but I guess Frank Moore partners with Rory. Frank is out of Shell Beach and has a good spot to stay across road from his boat. Rates are about on par/maybe a bit high.

I would highly reccomend the search button.....

If you don't care to, I have my standard reccomendations, coming from someone who fishes the Venice area about 200 days a year. I know several great guides down there, but the two I would reccomend first would be

1. Capt. Bryan Dickinson Dixie Riverside Charters 504-912-0201

2. Capt. Raymond Schmidt, Rising Sun Charters 228-332-6134

3. Capt. Owen Lambridge, Big O charters 225-978-1136

All three captains have lodging available with the charter, and all three consistenly catch lots of fish, and know how to put ou on a good trip. Your only problem is finding something for less than $500, this will be VERY difficult to do in the Venice area. If I can help you further, please let me know. If you pick the right day you can just throw your stuff in my boat and come with me.

I have a cousin by name of Capt. Craig Degruise that works out of Barataria ,LA (south of New Orleans) that will definately hook you up on some redfish, specs, or w/e desired. He uses Joe's Landing, which is also in Barataria, that is a meeting place, baitshop, etc. Give me a PM and I will give his number. He usually has a very affordable rate.
