Re: new gun
My Nova is the original without the coil reducer. I take it with me to the camp as my spare in case something happens to the SBE II.
Re: new gun
have any of you had to retro fit your benelli's or beretta's with sure cycles and other aftermarket parts?
The two loudest sounds in the world are a BANG when you expect a CLICK and a CLICK when you expect a BANG.
Re: new gun
I was using my Xtrema ll as a backup to the Benelli ll . The Benelli tore up opening weekend in Ar so I had to send the damn thing back and it is just over a year old....I will be using the Xtrema ll as the primary from here on out..

Re: new gun
My suggestion is to decided on the Price range you want to be in.. Then go pick up all the guns in that range and see which one feels the best to you.

That is false I have both and the xtrema ll is way better on recoil.. The xtrema ll has 2 different recoil systems..
I HAVE BOTH AND THE EXTREAMA OUT SHOOTS THE SBE2 {RECOIL} NIGHT AND DAY THE SBE2 IS JUST TO LIGHT TO ME.
Re: new gun
If you are shooting mostly 3 1/2" shells go with the Berreta Xtrema 2...if 3" is your choice I'd go with the SBE...I own an Xtrema and love it....but it will rattle your cage if you do not get it shouldered properly...just my 2 cents

Re: new gun
If you are only going to shoot 3" shells, then why spend the $1500+ on an SBE II when one can purchase a Beretta AL3901 or Urika2 or a Benelli M2? Those are cheaper than the SBE II or Xtrema2.
I have had my SBE II for two duck season, this year makes three, and have only taken it apart once to clean it and it has never missed a beat. When I left out a few years ago to purchase a new waterfowl shotgun, I left out with the intentions of purchasing the Beretta Xtrema2. After holding each one and shouldering each, I chose the SBE II because I liked the fit.

Re: new gun
one of my huntin buddies shoots the extrema. He has had it for a couple years and as long as it doesn't get dirty or wet or the wind don't blow it is an awesome gun. Im just saying it always has problems. he ends up shooting his 870 most of the time. i've got an old 1187 3" gun that will not hang up, at least it hasn't the last 10 yrs. and i am the worst about keeping a gun clean. i use it and an older 870 (which never lets me down) most of the time. I was told the X3 is the best for the money for 3.5 auto. i am thinking about gettin one.

Duckslayer1,
As you can see, the answer isn't in what firearm is best for us, but which one is best for you. I would suggest going to a dealer and shouldering each firearm you are interested in purchasing and if there is a way, firing each one. Both the SBE II and Xtrema2 have coil reduction systems in them that will greatly reduce coil far more than what you may have experienced with pump firearms.

Re: new gun
On recommendation of a hunting buddy I bought a Stoeger 2000. It kicked like a mule until I put a limbsaver on it. Has worked out thus far and for the money its a great deal. I have heard it called a working mans Benelli more times than i can count, but I want something that will work and not kick the you know what out of my wallet.
Re: new gun
390 is a good gun so are the sbe. I bought a H&R excell for 324 camo. I've shot bout 1 case of steel and 2 cases of lead. Not one problem.
