Nice kennel, cement slab, 15' X 18' covered roof. Nothing else I could have done I guess. Good news: they tell me sh isn't bad off and cure rate is good. Bad News: she cannot be active for 2 months so she won't get to duck hunt until January (if no complications). The other bad news: I'm a pharmacist so I got a prescription from the vet and ordered my heart guard through the pharmacy (cheaper). Heart Guard would pay for the treatment only if I bought it from the vet. The fact that I had a prescription doesn't matter! Crock of sh**. Just had to rant a little!!

stinks.... mine got to pick up two mornings worth before she tested positive.
If it wasn't for bad luck then i would have no luck at all........

I know of at least 2 postives on straight dope.

Da juice came up postive on hartguard. treated and was still postive. for over 2 years. 6 months on advantage and he is clear for the first time in 3 years. switched the whole crew over to advantage. travis

Its not cause its immune. The line is long with people that were using Ivomec and came back positive. I also know several pro trainers that were having docs admin heart guard on 1st and Ivomec on 15th, still same results dogs were getting heartworms.
I am not saying that this multi is the new answer but has convinced me after my research and Travis's experience along with several others I know. Its a shocker the first box when she says 100 bones, but hey if it works its worth it.

I know of two dogs that tested positive while on Ivomec. Test were given at the end of the month and tested pos. did not treat and administered doses the first of the month and the 15 and tested again at the end of the next two months and both tested neg. Not saying one way is right or wrong. But it has worked for myself/father and training partners for at least the last 20 years with no posititve test. Note all dogs in question are from S. LA.

I do think people are treating too many dogs after the first pos. test with out knowing how severe the infestation is in the dog.

Just remember, Hartguard worked until a couple years ago too. Everything currently having breakthrus on worked until the last few years. Advantage doesn't have the years to back it up, but it is getting the successes where other (including the treatment) have failed.

i agree that too many dogs are being treated straight from jumpstreet. The test they use now was not advaible several years ago, and they are now postives picked up that wouldn't have been a few years ago. travis

Buck tested positive on strait Ivermec on the 15th of every month. Dosed as was described. It's NOT 100% either.

Had an x-ray and blood work done today. Absolutely no physical signs of heartworms. No inflammation and no abnormal blood test. Doc started her on oral antibiotics and told me there is absolutely no risk in waiting to begin treatment in Feb. after duck season. He told me she is a duck dog, so take her duck hunting.

My 3 year old tested postive and mever missed a treatment I had her treated from jump street. If I could do it over I would try everything and anything before I would give her the treatment now. She came back a different dog and 6 months after the treatment is almost back to mormal. Greencaps dog tested positive the same day as mine and he started treatment a month later and finished a month before I did but he used a different Vet. Heartguard paid for everything plus a free treatment for a year.

Never had a problem with Heartguard, 4 different dogs. But it seems like it's effectiveness has diminished over recent years. Why is this?

I am seriously thinking of switching after all of the cases on Heartguard.
