I have been shooting a 3" gold with a composite stock for 5 years now. Take GC's advice and strip it as soon as you get it out of the box with gun scrubber (or brakeclean). Some folks say run the bolt dry but I disagree. You need oil on the bolt anywhere that metal hits metal and NOWHERE when the metal is exposed. Oil the ENTIRE trigger mechanism well. I think that the oil displaces water enough to keep it from freezing up in cold weather. Keep your dog away from it though or they will drench it and it'll freeze. That system works good for me and it doesn't hang in the field. Wildfowler and Mallardchaser can vouch for me on that one.

I clean mine after every good sloppy hunt the same way that I stated above.

Want a hell of a duck gun...buy an over and under. Any of the beretta's will do. I would advise against getting one that is too tricked out or you'll worry about scratching it and all of the time. Guns are tools to me, they must be mechanically (not cosmetically) sound.

look at the Baikal MP-153 Automatic, haven't heard a bad thing about the gun, it has an adjustment on the gun to set it for light or heavy loads. the gun cost around $300. i'm probably going to get one ordered tomorrow and have it for this weekend.

I GOT A BROWNING GOLD LAST YEAR. IT WILL JAM IF YOU DONT KEEP IT CLEAN , BUT THATS WITH ANYTHING IM SURE. AND MINE WILL NOT THROW OUT A LOW BRASS 7/8 oz ROUND. IT ONLY JAMMED WHEN I SHOT A CASE OF SHELLS THROUGH IT , AND IT WAS WITH THE 3 AND A HALF INCH. OVERALL GOOD GUN TO OWN.

The more I read what GC says, the more I like him...(I try to forget the atty. part) . I'm 43 years old and I've been breaking clay targets and shooting this gun or that gun for at least 35 years and... EVERY SBE (all four) I've ever dealt with and throw in three M1-S90's to boot, where bonafied pieces of $$(#((*$#!!!! I repeat, they were garbage and they are no more. If you own one, may you go in peace...but I hate your gun!
If I had to rate (from the experience of shooting them) todays best AUTO's I'd have to call it a draw between the Beretta 391 and the Browning Gold. They are fine equipment. I shoot stackbarrels or SxS's most of the time so I really don't like auto's. But in the duck blind, my 391 is a pleasure, recoil wise. GC, I hate the damn stock too. I'm thinking about sending it to Seminole and seeing what the can replace it with....

OK, so I have only been around for about 23 years now, have only been duckhunting for about 7 years, and have only had my SBE for a couple of seasons. But I really, really like the SBE; it has been a great gun. It cycles 3.5's, 3's and 2.75's all in the same magazine. The only time I have had the gun not cycle was straight out of the box, with 2.75's. After about a box or so of duck loads, 3.5" BB's (I know, overkill, right?), it cycles everything just fine.
The way everyone talks about the SBE, I feel like I should wear some kind of bullet-proof protection when shooting it, because it might blow up in my face. But personally it has been awsome.
I shoot my EAA SidexSide at clays during the off season, and it has been a good gun too. just don't want to beat it up on the way to the blind.
Don't rule out the SBE it can hold its own. Delta Duck, help me out a little bit, I think I have heard you say some good things about them.

But I think the best way to pick out gun is to shoot all of them and then choose the one that broke the most clays or killed the most birds.

That was me who said it, because at the time I was shooting my 686 exclusively. However, I've had an Xtrema for a season and a half now, with no complaints.

i personally dont own a gold, but two guys that i guide from bristol tn. have them and when they come hunting they spend most of their time shooting my gun, the new winchester. their giuns are always jamming. i myself went from the 1187special purpose to the winchester two years ago and have had no problems. i usaually shoot 4 cases ayear at ducks and about two at doves. i shoot the same gun to keep the feeling the same. hope this helps.

I can't belief they are still making other shotguns besides the Super 90 and the Real Deal the SBE!

I know you either Love the SBE or you hate'em. You could not buy my SBE for $2500, don't offer me $2600.

I have an old Super 90 that I shoot targets with, I need to buy a new reciever, because it is just worn out. I think it will make it acouple more years or until I get $300 I don't need. I don't shoot 15,000 plus rounds a year any more so maybe it will be okay.
