Got this from the IRS website
Q. I chose direct deposit for my 2007 tax refund but also requested a refund anticipation loan (RAL) from my preparer. How does that affect my stimulus payment?
A. Taxpayers who use Refund Anticipation Loans (RALs) or enter into any other loans or financial agreements with a tax professional, such as agreeing to have return preparation fees deducted from their refunds, cannot receive their stimulus payments by direct deposit and instead will get paper checks based on the paper check distribution schedule.
Looks like mine will be mailed June 20th..

Why in the world you get a RAL??? If it's being direct deposited you would be waiting no longer than two weeks for the refund. I'm sure there's a fee for getting the RAL. Money down the drain if you ask me. I mean really you've already loaned the government your money tax free for a whole year but you want it back a few days quicker so you give H&R Block or someone some free money to get it quicker.

Patience people patience

I didn't get a RAL or whatever its called. They just held there fees out for my takes. It took around 2 or 3 weeks to get mine back. Just wondering if the fees they held out will make my stimuls check have to be mailed instead of direct depoist.

Yeah.. That is what I am understanding.. I didn't get a RAL either.. But when you file online you have 2 options.. Pay the Online Transaction fees or have the fees deducted from your refund.. Let's say your were supposed to get a 1,000 refund and there is a 25.00 on line transaction fee. You can opt to have that deducted out of your refund. The way that works is the IRS sends the check to a bank, the bank deducts the 25.00 and deposits the remaining 975.00 into your account.. If you did this (like I did) then it sounds as if your looking at getting a paper check..

When fees are taken out of the refund prior to direct deposit from you tax preparer, the IRS doesn't actual have your bank information to make the deposit. The deposit goes to the preparer and then they forward your take after they take their fees. It all happens behind the scenes and you don't see it. If the IRS used the same mechanism to get your stimulus check to you that they used to send your tax refund, the stimulus check would go to the tax preparer.
