Great job as usual by the West MS club. Great grounds and people. Ran the finished B today and the judges set up 2 very nice series. Chance ya'll knew exactly where the dogs would not want to go on both the land and water blinds- and you put the bird in that spot.

Thanks for a great weekend,

Bill

I think somebody stole my dog and replace him with somebody else's dog!!! He wouldn't stop on the whistle for the blind, he broke on the first mark as soon as it hit the water, I mean, GOOD GOD!!! I was SOOOOO pissed!! Going back to work!! I have NO CLUE what came over him. YOu would have thought he had never been to a hunt test!!

I said in another post a month or so ago, you NEVER KNOW what your dog is going to do or how he is going to act at a hunt test, today was SOLID PROOF of that fact!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm better now, sort of!!![/quote?]

Which one were you I was helping marshall duties at seasoned?

I was the first dog to not pick up the blind and the first dog to break on the first thrown mark!! Yellow male dog.

CC, i would not have made good company at the party, I was HIGHLY pissed and didnt' really feel like partying. I do hate I missed it, but I wasn't up to partying!!! You know, they say, everyone will experience the crazy dog at a hunt test, well, I JUST DID!! If I didn't know anybetter, I would say someone stole my dog and replace him with an UNTRAINED imposter!!!!!

I finally got a chance to ride down and see the timber test Sunday pm and it just about killed me that I wasn't runnin. It would have been an absolute blast! I can't wait till next year! After the river gets out of Mahannah, we may need to have a trainin day up there and run that test! There is one other place near the road that could be run very similar too. Not sayin we would have passed or not, but that test was RIGHT up our alley. And any handler or dog who has ever hunted green timber would feel right at home. It was absolutely a HUNTING retriever test.

Let me try to describe as best I can even though I didn't run it. (So every one not there will be jealous)(including Travis!)

Mature Hardwoods with runnin water about knee boot depth. Test is run IN the timber. Chance and Harris and line at a log. Marks right to left at West, South and East.(180* swing). Bird throwers hiding behind trees just like a hunter would. They hand toss each mark. Just like hunting in green timber, dog just sees ducks falling after they come down outta the tree tops - they see bird coming down and the splash. Blind between first and second marks. Runnin water through trees and suction from everywhere - marks cover, wind and trees. You gotta steer through the trees in runnin water.

Congrats to WMHRC and the judges for getting out of the box and using the spot.

And Sunday seasoned water was run in a true duck hole as well. You want a pretty straight forward seasoned test that surprises with just enough challenge, that was it. It presented a couple of lessons about winger blinds. Dogs could see a winger blind and open runnin water out front and the blind was run to the right and it REALLY had a lot of them fighting to left towards the winger blind and more open area. Blind was not hard, but you just had to be able to have a SOME control, and the wind helped right at the end of the blind.

But the dozy that really surprised everyone was a 50-60 yard go bird! It was hand tossed out of the woods and landed in open water. Easy to see and big splash. But it gave some dogs fits because . . . . IMO . . . . . . . there was NO BLIND that the bird came out of. Some dogs did not swing with the gun/handler and some dogs were drawn to the woods.
