I liked Ribcage, Two Stick, Ajax, Volta, Kabuki, Taylor Grocery, and last but not least the new Chevron on Hwy 7. Used to live out at Shelby Place and that Chevron had a fine bbq sandwich and would cook pizzas to order if you called in. Got by far the best breakfast sandwiches/biscuits in Oxford too!

All the above are good. For something different, hunt up Pizza Den up the side street behind Applebee's. Order the roast beef sandwich; they apply gravy with a paintbrush (literally). It'll be all over you before you get it all et. Big ol nasty sammich.

Looking back at this original post from 3 years ago it is amazing how many of those restaurants are closed. Does, Prime, Waltz, Downtown Grill and Yocona are all closed now. Yocona was the bomb when I was in college there. We used to sit outside on a cooler for hours before getting a table. We would be trashed before actually got inside and sat down.
I like all of John Currence's restaurants, City Grocery, Snackbar and Big Bad Breakfast. I used to really like 208 but I haven't been there in a couple years. I know it is under new ownership and has a new chef, but I would assume it is still good.

I will never forget Pizza Bob's inevitable question, whether the last time he saw you was yesterday or four years ago: "What have y'all been doin'?" Does anyone remember the way he scooped those plain potato chips into the bag, on top of the stromboli? And speaking of that stromboli, how many accidental mouth burns did that molten cheese cause?

I don't know for sure if it's the same outfit or not that has a place in Holly Springs, and if it is I can't say that their burgers are as good as the one in Holly Springs, but I recently saw a Phillip's Grocery near the Hospital and I can tell you the one in Holly Springs is GREAT.

IMO I thought it was just okay.
I'd take a proud Larry burger of it any day.
