Seriously, I don't think I have ever seen a banded hen mallard, or a banded Gadwall of any type. Seen lots of banded woodie hens. What gives? Hens and grayducks don't get no love?

im not sayin i dont ever shoot hens. i just wondered everybody's views. good point about hens not being able to breed as many times as a pheasant but i wonder if there is a statistic for killing a hen mallard on how it affects the pop. each year.

I try to let hens pass. When guiding for some reason they will kill all the hens. I have a buddy ( the doctor knows well) If you had 99 greenheads and one hen he would kill the hen every single time.

I try not too- but sometimes things happen. I have only dropped one so far this year...she came in 5 minutes after shooting time with 3 grey ducks. I thought they were all greys and dropped the biggest 2..oops

I'll say only drakes because that's all i've shot this year. 2 greenwings and 1 woodie.

I try to avoid shooting hen mallards and pintail, but it still happens sometimes. All else species is fair game.

That's BS. You'd shoot yours, Forrest's, Duncan's, Ann's, and Delta's out of season at night. Without a lisense, over bait, naked.
