An 870 a hunk of junk? I recall numerous threads that say most hunters have beaten theirs to hell and back and never had a problem out of them. I recall 3 that have been in my cabinet for over 15 years, and I have never taken any of them to repaired. There is one of them that I have never cleaned. I have never seen an 870 not shoot when the trigger is pulled, and it is loaded. Just my .02.

Just my opinion...take it how you want it.

who said i destroyed them both :?:
i don't like my gold because the weather conditions need to be perfect and dry. my gold hangs up too much for me so i bought the 870 for the weather conditions i was hunting saturday afternoon.

man never heard of such.. now i do keep my guns clean.. but there are times when it's extremely dirty/muddy and hang ups has never been the issue.. now it is true that "my" gold will not shoot certain types of steel loads... but i mainly shoot heavy shot so that x's out those problems.. my advise is kinda like this ..."I" have never owned an auto gun that would shoot cheap shells... browning, beretta, and yes i even once owned a SBE (that kept flinging the barrell off) so... for the gold... great quality gun deserves quality shells.... for as the 870... had one for years that lived in my truck or straped to the wheeler during hunting season... only gun i've ever had that never got cleaned or nothing...just shot and shot some more... in my eyes that's the most durable gun ever made... if you can't keep one of them together.. you might as well quit, give up, throw in your hat,, fold, surrender, walk away, and take it as a loss.. cause you are not meant to use a shotgun

Brand new gun?you obviously didn't know how to put it together either.
They're ain't many on here gonna side with you on that statement.

I had an 870 that never would eject a shell.....thats right..a pump gun that would not pump. I had to hit it up against the tree to make it shuck the shell.
I sold it to a person that i did not even know...I guess i ripped them off b/c it was a POS.

I bought a brand new one from wal-mart after that. (and i know how to put a gun together). It did the exact same thing....would not eject the shell. Peice of Garbage. So i went to wal-mart and talked to the manager. He let me exchange it for ANOTHER 870.

I took that gun out on a river trip. shot well for a few minutes then when i went to pump it it fell into 6 or 7 peices. Some of them are still in the river. Luckily the manager remembered me and let me just return the gun.

In my opinion...a remington 870 manufactured after the yr 2000 is a hunk of you know what. I bought a benelli and have never had any trouble with it..

I also have older model 870's that i would put up against anything...but as for the new ones... keep buying the $250 guns and you get what you pay for.

Also in my defense .....

I had a friend of mine purchase an 870 in a 20ga for his wife. (brand new)
It did the same thing...would not eject the shell half the time. Its like it would get caught in the chamber. You would have to bank it against the ground and/or tree to get it to finally kick the shell out.

sunnylab never heard of that happening to a new 870 but it's comman in one that has been shot alot.. if it happens again ever.. heres the way to fix it... first unload the gun.. the pump it as if you were loading it and leave it open .. look and there is a slot on the side of the barrell, where the thing sits that grabs the hulls and pulls them out.. over time this part will fray a little.. take a pocket knife or small file and knock the burrs off that angled corner.. back pumping and shooting like new again
