1st deer hunting gun was a borrowed .308 from my grandfather. Didn't get a shot off with it other than target practice. (I think he just wanted to laugh from the kick it gave me.) 1st gun of mine I deer hunted with was a 410 and a slug, then a (real) muzzleloader for my 1st deer, then a 30-30, and now a .270.

Started out with the ol trusty Daisy, then moved up to a .410 in which me and my cousins were not given shells until the poor armordilla was in site. Eventually moved up to a 20 for about 2 years then a 12. First rifle was marlin 30/30 with over and under sites then 30-06 and now a 7mm rem mag. my little boy is still in the pop gun stages but has the same .410 i used ready and waiting.

Learn how to handle a gun with a Daisy. Started squirrel hunting with a single shot .410. Move to a single shot 20ga. and shot deer and squirrel with that. Next was a double barrel 20 ga. Then mossberg 12 ga pump. About 14 I got to use Dad's trusy Marlin Dirty Dirty. I own a .270 now but I got a Dirty Dirty a few years ago and that's all I deer hunt with.

I know its not the best shooting gun out there, but 150yds in, it will get the jobs done. I've always loved to carry those guns.

How many dogs did you have to shoot before you got to deer hunt!?! HA! J/K! :D

Started with a 410 double with slugs and went to a 742 30-06 then a bolt 270 and now a 300 WSM.

i started off at bout 4 or 5 with a bb gun.. my dad would make me clean that thing like it was a 2000.00 gun. then moved up to a beretta 20 at bout 5 or 6.. he used to make me shoot it every friday before going to deer camp.. he'd tell me he put bird loads in it anf trick me everytime with a buckshot.. i's scared to death of that thing. then i moved to a ruger 44, then on to a 270 by about 11 or 12. far as hunting alone.. i could bow hunt alone at 9.. he wouldn't let me use broadheads though.. had to use field tips and poison pods... up to bout 15 yards.. i'd stack'em up.. this post brought up a bunch of old memories. wish i could share them all with yall...but it taken 31 years to make'em so i can't imagine how long it would take me to type them.. we have alot of great memories hunting together.. i can truely say he is my dad and my best friend. i just hope one day i can be as good of teacher as he is. we don't do much deer hunting no more.. he quit, said he wasn't mad at them no more, so i quit too. wasn't no fun hunting without him. we still bird hunt together. whereever he's at ..is the life of the party.. he a hoot to be around and will crack you up with his plain spokeness. i give him this much.. he will call a spade a spade... anyway.. i'll quit now

Went on my first deer hunt at 5 with my dad. He carried his browning bar .270 along with us. Buck stepped out and I told him I wanted to shoot so he let me. The deer is on my wall still :D

Quite honestly, my Dad never did let me have / purchase a rifle while I lived under his roof. .410 first, then I saved up my yard cutting money to purchase a 12 ga. pump. It wasn't till many years later that I ever purchased a rifle.
