Public hunting is limited already. When folks get permits to hunt, that means somebody else got left-out and might not get to hunt. Maybe there IS something the MDWFP can do to curb issuance of multiple permits (to the same applicant) on the same date - but I don't hold them responsible for 'people' management.

I guess there's nothing technically wrong with applying for multiple hunts at different WMA's on the same date - but by doing so, you limit someone else's opportunity to hunt public land. That's not a big deal until it's YOU that gets 'cut'.

Just something to consider...... :?

but just b/c you you put down certain dates doesnt mean you will get drawn for them. I try to coordinate most of my dates around Christmas holidays ect.. and never put the same date down for more than 1 place but it never works out, I always get a couple places on the same day.

I agree......but when you DO get drawn for multiple places - it still cuts somebody out (that wasn't drawn for a permit), unless there is a 'stand-by' draw at those particular places.....then folks gamble on driving there, to see if there might be an opening.

But hey - that's part of the fun of duck hunting on public land.....

Maybe, if a guy applies for 3 possible dates at 3 different places - and gets draw for all 3 - when his name is called at the other two, they record a no-show and only consider 1 date, the next year instead of 3. It's all about opportunity, access, and fairness - like it or not. It's hard to establish a sense of fairness when everybody is only out for themselves.

I agree with you. I was thinking they should have some type of system to where if you get drawn on one WMA for a date then the system will not let you get drawn at another WMA on that same date. This way it would better everyones chances
